I am terrified to start new treatment because of afib due to Calquence (Alcalabrutinib). Thank you for any reassurance and bless you all. ππΌπ
Anyone has followed Rituxan -Venetoclax treatm... - CLL Support
Anyone has followed Rituxan -Venetoclax treatment with good results?
Have you been treated for the AFib with any success? I am still on Calquence from two years ago after in hospital with AFib. I have minor episodes of the afib, take flecainide and have been fortunate that I am managing. I also would like to know the next meds for CLL if AFib gets really bad. Good luck with help on this.
Hi unairdefamille,

You can read many of the past postings on this subject here:

It's probably our most tested, fixed duration, combination treatment in use today. Many patients with heart or blood pressure issues have been treated successfully and have remissions of 2 to 5 or more years before needing another round of the same treatment.

And this posting covers the clinical trial data comparing the different combinations:

Best thing I ever did was to go on v for 2 years and rituximab for 6 months went into remission in Nov 2019 and still am
I did undergo rituxan treatments last year for severe anemia caused by CLL. I must say I had very good results with the treatments. My hemoglobin counts went up and have remained pretty close to normal since then. The only side effect I had was during the first treatment (this is very common) called "shake and bake". It is a case of nausea followed by a severe case of the chills. This is taken care of immediately by a care team that is right there. After that you will probably sleep for the rest of the treatment. The rest of my treatments went without any problems whatsoever and I even drove home on my own. I would recommend the rituxan and would take it again if needed. I hope this was helpful and wish you the very best of luck with your treatments. π
Thank you and bless you, these are wonderful news. Not looking forward to shake and bake, but at least I am warned. π
Hello - Others have replied with their Calquence experience but I was treated with V + Obinutuzumab (Gazyva) in 2016 and part of 2017, and still in remission. Obinutuzumab is similar to Rituxan.
Thank you, I hope you stay in remission for a long long time. ππΌππ
I have had great luck with rituxan and venetoclax. The very first rituxan treatment left me very tired and I slept most of the day. After that I was good. The venetoclax has put me in remission for over a year now. I only take half the required dose because of a skin rash, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I take it at night so it doesn't ruin my day with possible upset stomach.
Thank you dear gardenman 68, very encouraging. ALL THE BEST TO YOUas you continue to thrive ππ
