Night sweats

This morning I woke up under light covers, soaked with sweat. Curious if I had a fever, I was surprised it was only 96.3. Only had a few minutes to google, would love to hear your-all’s experiences with CLL night sweats.

Hello Blueberrytoasthollywollydoodle. I have had night sweats with cll. As my cll worsened, so did my night sweats. Cll is a cancer of a type of b-cell, lymphocytes. It is typical of advancing cll to develop b-symptoms like unexplained fevers, night sweats and weight loss.

That said, an isolated event of night sweats is not necessarily a sign of advancing cll, or perhaps not related to cll at all. There are countless other reasons for night sweats such as an infection, sleep apnea or menopause. An isolated event of night sweats is often no big deal. If there have been no recent changes in your labs, that might argue against cll as a cause. If your wbc has been suddenly increasing and your hemoglobin and platelets falling, that might argue for cll as a cause. It is a symptom you should certainly report to your doctor.

As I approached treatment, I was soaking through several tee shirts a night. Soon after starting treatment, they went away. If your sweats are related to cll, it’s possible they will persist and worsen. If they do persist, and until such time you need treatment, there’s not a whole lot that can be done. You can turn the AC down, turn a fan on at night, wear moisture wicking nightwear, sleep under a light sheet and things like that. If your night sweats are cll related, the real fix is treatment. My night sweats started out to be occasional and mild, no big deal. They became quite unpleasant when they had me soaking through several shirts a night. Good luck to you. I would not jump to any conclusions about an isolated event as you describe.

Hello Blueberrytoast

Yes, sounds like drenching night sweats. My solution was buckwheat pillow with hospital 3' x 4' quilted bed pad and fan on legs at night. My night sweats stopped after first and second CLL treatments. Blessings.

I have had 1 episode of night sweats while in the hospital in 2021. My pillow was soaked as was part of the hospital gown. I realized this is what some women experience during menopause ( I never did) but it happened just that once. Not sure why just that once but so glad it was just that once.

I was very fortunate. My night sweats woke me up as they were starting. I would just get up and walk around until they passed. I had to change clothes, but not bed linens.
