Yes it is deemed as undertaking treatment if it’s medication directed at the CLL. It’s important to declare your CLL regardless of stage for the policy to be valid.

Try StaySure. I’m insured with the them and their medical screening is very thorough.

I feel a word of caution is due. Insurance is like a parachute, would you go for the cheapest parachute? Having said that the dearest is also not necessarily the best. Research and read the small print carefully

By way of an explanation for my view. I had what I thought was good insurance, on the way to the port (Dover) I was involved in an accident and my car was no longer usable. Subsequently claiming on the travel insurance for train, lost accommodation and ferry changes resulted in a "travel insurance doesn't cover until out of country". I appealed, they rejected the appeal and said if I wanted to take it further go to the ombudsman. So, based on their 'recommendation' I did. I had two phonecalls with a person from the ombudsman, the first wast to go throught the detail of the claim, the second one, with the same guy who was a little baffled, to find out they'd agreed to pay. Why was he baffled? Well when he called them and introduced himself and told them what he was doing without discussion they said they would pay.

Best to all, rob.

PS: it was a little more complex, but that would be boring.

PPS: Make sure you collect evidence if you think you need to claim. That was my first ever claim and quite an experience.

Thank you for your reply my grumble is I have a letter from consultant saying I'm in clinical remission but because I take medication it is classed as treatment but at no point do they ask what medicstion.in brackets it just says treatment could be chemotherapy, radiotherapy etc.because of this my premiums has gone up by £1000

Is that observation based purely on cost Nucleusman? It has to be remembered that some companies will not even insure certain conditions and I was turned down by the cheapest. Incidentally, when I made a claim (not with StaySure), they made it so difficult and insisted on an inaccessible public hospital abroad so I ended up paying privately. At that point I realised why it had been so cheap. Age is another factor and some companies have a cut off point after which it can become prohibitively expensive. Can be a total minefield!

Read the T&C’s and never assume that cheapest is best. Read the reviews on Trust Pilot.

I’ve tried them all, and I mean all, half won’t even quote me and the other half are all over £2,000 single trip to Mexico, but Europe is thankfully a lot cheaper so Europe for me it is.

Not what you're looking for?
