Trying to recover from Covid

Hello All,

Have not posted for a while.

I'm on Calquence 1 a day 100 mg

Bloodwork is acceptable.

Recovering from Covid after not being able to have Paxlovid.

I'm so very weak, trying my hardest to get back on may feet.

I'm used to exercise up and down 6 days a week. Too weak to do so.

Is there any other support in assisting the rehabilitation of Covid?

I'm now on my 23rd day after testing positive.

I would really appreciate any of your expereinces.

Many Thanks in Advance,

Traudel

so sorry to hear that you feel so weak. I haven’t had covid, so I can’t relate specifically, but I was very weak after chemo (FCR) and had several blood transfusions.

I found a wonderful book - How Not to Die by Dr Michael Greiger, which I credit with getting me back on my feet and to the fact my bloods are really good now. There are so many foods I wasn’t eating, that really help and they definitely did help when I added them to my diet.

You can buy the book online if you decide to give it a go.

Hope you start to feel much better soon. X

Hi. I am in the same situation except I had Paxlovid. In fact I just started my second round of it. I was positive on Aug. 24 and have been ill ever since. I am withholding the Acalabrutinib for now. I have a bad case of sinusitis, a cough, and no energy at all. I do not have a fever and my lungs are clear. What are your symptoms and what meds are you on? I wish you the best of luck and certainly understand how you feel.

Traudel, it was nearly 6 weeks after having covid before I began to feel energy coming back. Until then, I made myself move on each day. It was rough and I would start sinking in the early afternoon. But, the next day I made myself move on again. As suggested, be good about your diet and water consumption. And during the day as exhaustion sets in, go to a special place you fixed up that can still be stimulating while you rest to recharge. For me it was a comfortable chair in my garden or library corner. I could doze off and then awaken in a "happy place" I enjoy. 🙂 Sandra

i had Covid late December of last year - in and out of the hospital and finally got out mid- February - but too weak to stand in the shower. Started with short walks - and slowly added time to those walks. But for a reference by mid-May… 3 months later I finally joined a gym - and was gassed when trying to push myself.

But kept trying so by mid-July - I could run on the treadmill for 30 minutes slowly.

So… took me months but just kept in trying a bit more every day.

So be patient but slowly persistent …

I was two months into Zanubrutinib when I got Covid. I took 5 days of Paxlovid , off the Zanubrutinib, and felt great! Started half dose of Zanubrutinib after the five days and could not shake the Covid - rebounded. Felt like my immune system was 100% gone. Went totally off the meds and within days the Covid was gone. I mean my Covid line on the test kit was black while on meds! About three days later the line was the normal Covid test color. Then I woke up a day or two later with environmental allergies and knew it was gone. Sure enough negative test. I haven't restarted Zanubrutinib since. I am having my flu shot while I'm off and probably pneumonia too. While i have an immune system back. Then they found a node in my breast similar to when I had breast cancer 20 years ago (had been having issues since before meds )so having that checked out as well while I'm off In case I need surgery. I do believe I am feeling cll symptoms again but what do I do? That's how I handled it. Doc had said ok to stop. But I don't know if he meant stop for this long. Maybe ask doc if you could stop taking the Calquence for awhile and see if your immune system comes back to fight it off ? I had Covid for three weeks. Not fun. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time.
