Should we get immune globulin for Covid pneumonia lingering on Day 75

Hi Folks , it’s Steffie, John 64 year old 11q ATM is approx. Day 75 post Covid pneumonia infection and on 2L of oxygen and doing well by in a very long convalescence phase. No evidence of CLL in blood indices. Post O plus V by at least one year and in “complete remission”. By flow and radiologically as of last year.

He had to be readmitted to hospital due to a strange transient irregular heartbeat that he developed and backed some fluid into the lungs that were damaged by Covid. Lasix given once and worked well. Heart beat and EKG normal

We decided to check in with an oncologist while at the community hospital (regular doctor at MD Anderson in another state). The IgG is 600 out of 1000 and the IgM is 30 out of 100. IgA is normal. She wants to give Immuneglobulin infusion for 1-3 months .

Does anyone know the reason as he is Covid negative now? Is this just to protect from additional infectious insults while he is here? Are their any side effects?

Vaccine may not have worked very well? What do we do? Keep getting the booster?

Please advise as fast as infusion decision will be made in next hour,

Best wishes, Steffie and John LoveCuresCLLandCovid

The only down sides of an IVIG infusion are those common to all infusions (infusion reactions) and John will be monitored by infusion nurses for those. On the upside, he will be receiving a transfusion of antibody immunity from at least 1,000 donors to boost his protection against all the infections experienced by those donors.

Read many of the links! Very comprehensive . Thank you Neil! You are amazingly helpful my friend. Please continue to pray for John as he has been through a lot recently . Covid is real and very dangerous for CLLers, in my opinion. Please protect yourselves. Be cautious and on guard. Covid pneumonia is an absolute nightmare. Don’t get it!!! Best wishes, LoveCuresCLL is Grateful to Neil!
