NHS ANTIBODY TEST

"Thank you for doing a coronavirus (COVID-19) antibody test. Antibodies were found in your blood sample."

Received this yesterday after doing the test on Monday. Good news (I think) but what does it actually mean? Without any attached numbers I am still in the dark.

Is there a level of antibodies that this statement means I have reached? Anyone know?

I understand the measurement to be in units per ml, or u/ml. To record as positive it is quite low, around 1 I think. I scored 189. Its considered a healthy immune system would be greater than 2000, but my test was done after 4 months. We've both had a response, that's about the only result I can see. Can't interpret much else.

Thank you. Trouble is the NHS response gives no numbers at all!

yes, just a yes or no. The test wasnt expensive, £49 I think from monitormyhelath. The big question is the quality of the antibodies, and also dont forget there is more to vaccines than the protection given by antibodies which we measure.

In terms of what does this mean to your vulnerability it means nothing. There is no known direct association between antibody levels and resistance to covid infection. Go on like you had no antibodies and be very cautious.

I did antibody test this week and received same message confirming antibodies. They stopped providing numbers because no one knows what level of antibodies is needed to be effective. Even with high antibody levels caution is still required because vaccine only reduces risk of infection, people with high antibody levels are unlikely to exhibit such caution and I think this has also a factor in thus decision.
