I have CLL, developed AIHA in Jan and having been coming down off steroids ever since with some side effects. In searching for some answers on my breathlessness, the consultant has now spotted some nodules on my lungs and want to do a lung biopsy. Do any of you have experiences you can share ?
I have some anxiety about the procedure. I have blocked sinuses and catarrh and am worried about breathing and swallowing with a camera down my mouth or nose ? I've not been provided with any details of the procedure yet but I'm worried already. Thanks for you help.

I don't have any direct knowledge of lung biopsies, but have tried to help with similar question in the past: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I did a search to find members that have mentioned lung biopsies in past postings, so I am listing their avatar names here so they will get a link to this page and your request. E-Lynn amaagabg2020 bigunwill2

And there are other communities that have more postings about lung biopsies
Please let us know your experience by replying to this posting once your biopsy is completed. I hope it is a non-event for you and all the extracted tissue is benign like a granuloma (then you will have a 2nd set of Watch & Wait experience).
I had a lung biopsy last week, I had no problems with procedure, it was CT guided, no camera involved. Had a local anaesthetic Into the area then a needle was used to take small samples of lung tissue. Am now waiting on results.Best wishes to all
Thanks for the reply. I hope I get that option but is looking like a "bronchoscopy". I was worried about how to swallow but sounds like that function is limited by the anaesthetic.
I have had bronchoscopy done twice, I asked for sedation and was unaware of the camera going down. Please try not to be anxious and relax it is not as bad as it sounds.
Hi - I’ve only just read your post - was actually searching “CLL & AIHA”. You may have already had your bronchoscope . If no, just wanted to reassure you (here in Australia) mine was done with a light anaesthetic/sedation, similar to a colonoscopy.
Mine went well & I awoke fine.
Guessing they would do the biopsy at the time.
Pre CLL I’ve had lifelong brochiectasis & chronic infections.
This year scheduled for lung surgery due to chronic loculation of pleural fluid - miraculously escaped due to spontaneous, albeit slight improvement.
Wishing you well & feel better soon -Helen Australia 🇦🇺
Yes, I was worrying over nothing. I don't remember much at all after they gave me the anaestetic. Not had the results yet - will be next week. Thanks and keep well
Hi - every best wish for results. Always understandable to be apprehensive about any procedures. So glad it all went smoothly. I even get “my knickers in a knot” when I see lengthy blood requests, pet scans etc. (possibly due to working for Drs )! I have to give myself a good talking to - just because they test for .. this & that... doesn’t equate to you having it! Good luck with everything - cheers Helen 🇦🇺🥂
