Hello, I was diagnosed 2 months ago with CLL. I am 70 and in W & W. Just wondering if anyone heard of having blood in the urine. I went to my gynecologist yesterday for a routine check and this is what was found. He couldn't answer me if this was a CLL symptom as well. Now I have to go to Urologist and call my Hematologist.

Blood in urine?
Hi starfish It's normal to check on the cause of blood in urine and not merely assume it's CLL.
If CLL causes a very low platelet count that could be a cause, but likely skin bruising would also occur.
Common cause in women is infection, which should be tested. Many other causes exist I have been previously told.
I hope you get your Urologist opinion swiftly.
Pls keep in touch.

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. Yes, earliest I can see a Urologist is April 23rd. Keep well. Appreciate your opinion.
Hi Starfish!
I'd give my gynecologist a call and ask them to do an urinalysis to check for an infection. If there is one, you can start antibiotics asap. If not, then waiting till the 23rd is not a big deal. And UTI's don't always present with painful symptoms. Be proactive and get the urinalysis done to avoid the infection, if there is one, to spreading to kidneys.
I have had a couple of incidents of blood in my urine and it was due to having low platelets and a UTI. As soon as I started antibiotics it cleared up . Very common with low platelets and treatment 😕
Blood in urine isn't a symptom of CLL - you need to be seen by a urologist as your gynaecologist says. If you are in UK, the ointment must be under the 14 day rule, because it is a symptoms of bowel cancer BUT it is more often an infection. Especially if it is white blood cells. Good luck with it.
I have had microscopic blood in my urine for years and they have never been able to find a reason. Have had all the tests with the urologist including a cystoscopy. I have always wondered if it was somehow related to CLL.Kathy
Hi, I have had blood in my urine for years and the last couple of years I was told I had a lot of blood in it. I had a cystoscopy last October and they found nothing and in November I saw a gynaecologist routinely who suggested I try oestrogen cream as now I’m 74 and everything has atrophied in that area. I haven’t tried it yet but my oncologist said it would be ok and wouldn’t cause blood clots (hopefully). The gynaecologist said my atrophy was much worse than the year before and I started Ibrutinib 11 months ago so I’m guessing the Ibrutinib has caused that. It certainly has dried up my skin and nails! Hope you get it sorted.
I forgot to add that my gynaecologist said it could be caused by inflammation through lack of oestrogen.
Another vote for possible Estriol 0.01% Cream, it works for my wife, who had the same symptoms, ( at a similar age).
Thank you everyone for your input. I'll update you after I see Urologist. Is a cystsoscopy painful? Do you know if they can put you under for that?
Consult an urologist.
