Even before the second dose, BNT162b2 was highly efficacious, with a vaccine efficacy of 92.6%, a finding similar to the first-dose efficacy of 92.1% reported for the mRNA-1273 vaccine (Moderna).

Good find zaax. I am going for my second dose tomorrow. It’s nice to know I might have way more protection from the first dose than I thought.

I was going to head straight to Houston after my vaccine tomorrow for my appt at MD Anderson where I hoped to pick my doctors brain on what protection he thinks the vaccine is getting us and if there is any reliable test we can use to assess our immunity. My appt just got canceled. It’s a mess in Houston with the ice storm and power outages.

Hopefully I can reschedule soon. I will pass on any info I get to the group here after my appt.

Jeff:

May I ask how you felt after your first dose the following day? Any pain or discomfort? I had my first jab yesterday and I didn’t feel much other than a little tenderness at the injection site and that has me concerned. I was hoping to feel lousy perhaps indicating a good response but that didn’t happen☹️

Hope, I had no reaction to my first shot, not even pain at the injection site. I kind of hope to have some reaction tomorrow to make me think I have antibodies kicking in.

Jeff: I hope you feel terrible after tomorrow’s shot. By the way, make sure your wife checks over your outfit before you enter the hospital for shot number two 😊.

Best

I have read that if you have a response that you may have had Covid-19.

Jeff, it may be for the best that your trip to Houston was cancelled. More people seem to get a little fuzzy after the second shot than the first. I have my second scheduled for next week and have my fingers crossed. The only side effect after the first shot was two days of light fever in the afternoons (99.5)
