Good to be alive

For all the discomfort bestowed by CLL, a morning walk like this is a tonic.

The hedgerows have already yielded their blackberries, sloes and rose hips. Meanwhile the fairies have set up their parasols ready for a fine day. Half a dozen of those will make a nice lunch.

What an amazing photograph. Yes that would lift my spirits but I hope you know your mushrooms !

Top of the morning Colette!

I just edited this post. They are parasol mushrooms, easy to identify. Discardthe stalks, the cap is delicious fried in butter with garlic and seasoned.

I have just edited my veg box delivery for tomorrow afternoon and I am going to add portobello mushrooms to the order. Sadly that’s the closest I get to a fresh mushroom 🍄

It turns out I had picked 9 large mushrooms, more than enough for lunch for two (accompanied by braised leek with ricotta, home baked sourdough bread).

Oh I am so jealous. But will be attempting soda bread this morning ! First time in years 🤔

Mmm, I used to love soda bread. Only gluten free these days 😕 nearly all home baked as the Free From options in the shops tend to be free from flavour.

Such a coincidence! I’ve been to have a 24 hr heart monitor fitted this morning and came back and made myself a big Portobello mushroom with some cheese grilled on the top 😊

Good to hear you in cheery mood today bennevisplace. Some bracing fresh air is a tonic.

Mmm Portobello and cheese! Can't wait for lunch - on dewy mornings the wild mushrooms cook better after drying for a few hours.

PS hope your monitor's readout turns out boringly normal.

Thanks bennevisplace. It may well do but sadly I know there’s an issue so hoping they get to grips with it.

Newdawn,

I had one a year or so ago and it was much easier and more comfortable than I expected except trying to get my underwear off at night so I ended up sleeping in it 😉

Hope they’re not of the ‘magic’ variety! I love mushrooms and seeing those has made me crave them. As for the great outdoors, it’s a big fat yes from me. Raises my spirits every time, especially on these crisp Autumn days.

Only magic if you believe in fairies Peggy!

Doesn’t everyone?🤣

I only believe my own senses and theories supported by scientific evidence.

Fairies are invisible, a fact confirmed by many controlled experiments.

Lol. Electricity is invisible but I believe in that! 😉

So therefore fairies are real! I saw them once in my bedroom when I was 5. Shortly after my pediatrician showed up to give me a shot of penicillin.
