Headaches

Hello All, I am starting my 3rd month on Imbruvica 420mg daily. Been through the stomach stuff and mouth sores. They are no longer a problem. I am now having an awful constant headache. " Swimmy headed" and a little off balance. I am going to take in more liquids to see if that helps and talk with my Dr about reducing my dosage to every other day.. Any insights?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim ,

Good decision to call your dr as soon as you can , they may lower your dose to 280mg a day.

You also need to drink 8 x 8oz cups of water daily minimum or fluids, without counting coffee or tea as those dehydrate you

I recommend calling your Dr or nurse to discuss

It seems that those on the 420 mg tablets end up going to every other day, as you can’t split the tablets. Maddening that the company has put patients and their doctors in the position of not having more flexibility!

I guess it depends if he’s on the 420mg tablet or the 3 x 140mg capsules. Someone posted on here before people were having more side effects with the tablets than the capsules.

I hope you can stay on prescribed dose, although there is emerging data people can do well on a reduced dose.

Just as your mouth sores passed, so might your headaches. I had transient mouth sores and headaches with ibrutinib which both passed. Actually I have an odd mouth sore today. It’s of little concern. They come and go infrequently now and aren’t that bothersome.

Drinking more water than usual might help with headaches. If the headaches won’t pass, a discussion with your doc about dose reduction would be certainly worth having.

Try sleeping on your back..I am a stomach sleeper but I do not breathe deep enough unless I am on my back. Seems to be caused by having a slightly low Hg and not taking in enough O2 during the night. Roll over to see if it helps.
