Imbruvica and chemo

Has anyone had a secondary cancer while on Imbruvica? My oncologist is coordinating with Dr. Choi at UCSD. I have to start chemo for breast cancer 2nd week of January. I just had my port put in yesterday. This is going to be a real rollercoaster 🎢. Not sure if I’ll have to go off Imbruvica for the 3 months of chemo.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

Hi Pam,

Yes, I just had a RCC Renal Cell Carcinoma 2 cm.

Chromophobe (less than 5 % are Chromophobe)

- removed from my kidney cortex In the adipose tissue. . Minimal symptoms - frequent voiding. No treatment needed. Wide margins clean.

Found by accident. (I had an aspiration pneumonia from reflux).

Perceptive *Urgent Care* Doctor scripted a CT abdominal - suspecting diverticulitis.

If an UltraSound was done first - it would not have been discovered.

Link in reply above to Dr Koffman’s list of the top 10 takeaways for CLL for 2019.

The paper (OSU) on *SPR Secondary Primary Neoplasms* related to the BTKi like Ibrutinib was presented at ASCO in June 2019.

It is - I suspect - becoming TMI - too much information for our caretakers, researchers and patients.

Stay vigilant, be your own advocate and if necessary- *the patient from hell*.

* I had symptoms. Frequent voiding.

*My hsCRP was rising - 16 at last measure. ***

*This paper from ASCO on SPN was available since June 2019.

*This is my 4th time at the rodeo.

*We need to be scanned more frequently.

*Early detection is our only defense.

***inflammation, obesity, RCC , recent paper from MSK. I’ll find and post.

Good luck!

May have been a separate factor in my SPN.

But just maybe ...

The hsCRP increase may have been alerting me the inflammation was building up in the adipose tissue to cope with the tumor.

So much unknown.

Stay vigilant.
