Chapped lips on Imbruvica

Has anyone who is on Imbruvica had trouble with extremely chapped lips. My husband has been on Imbruvica about 16 months with minimal side effects but has nagging little things like the chapped lips that doesn’t go away with usual things used to treat that. Any suggestions?

Is it possible he has sleep apnea? Does he sleep/snore with his mouth open--that can dry his lips. If that is the case, it is important to get that seen to by your GP/PC. Apnea can be concerning for heart health over time.

Is he drinking the amount of water suggested when taking Ibrutinib?

There will be others who may have had this happening to the on Ibrutinib and have suggestions for what they have used to stop chapping and maintain smooth lips.

Thanks for your reply. He does have sleep apnea and has been on a Cpap machine for several years.

Hi

I have had chapped lips for several years, but worse on Ibrutinib. I have to use Vaseline on the lips numerous times during the day.

Yes, I have chronic chapped lips and have also been on Ibrutinib for 16 months. I’m using Vaseline and Carmex classic lip balm.

Dermatologist told me to use AquaPhor for chronic chapped lips. It’s over the counter and easier to use than Vaseline.

My dermatologist recommended Dr.Dan's lip balm. You can get it on Amazon. I put it on every night before I go to sleep. It will take awhile to work. Just stick to it. I had really dry lips from the Imbruvica. Hope it helps. Take care Cindi

Glad you are getting some good responses. I've been on ibrutinib for 5 years with no problem with chapped lips. I do have some of the other symptoms though, like fatigue, frizzy hair, brittle nails, etc.

We're headed for the drier climes of New Mexico so I'll be sure & pack something for my lips while we're on vacation.

Hi Sis,

Yes; on Imbruvica your skin will become dry including lips. I constantly throughout the day put on Chapstick. I've used the more expensive lip balms and find the $1.00 Chapstick to work better than any. Carole

We are supposed to drink 3 litres of water a day. I still drink tea and a cup of coffee each day but drink water as well. My skin is amazing. My legs were dry and had eczema and I moisturised my face morn and night. Dry skin gone. Im putting it down to the water. Anne uk
