"For most people who are lactose intolerant, digesting a small amount of lactose should not have adverse effects. Lactose-intolerant individuals can typically tolerate about 12 to 18 g of lactose, which is the equivalent amount found in an 8 to 12 oz. serving of milk. Medications typically have much less than this amount, meaning they should not cause discomfort."
