Quick question

What is the significance of NRBC being high when the rest of the results are consistent.... lymphocytes a bit lower than 4 months ago but still in the 20s... all the rest RBC , Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit all in the Black ...low side but not boderline...

But NRBC was in the red at .02 normal is 0-.01..and I usually had a reading of 0... I once had this same reading a year ago when there was a mistake in the blood test but then hematocrit and hemoglobin and RBC were also off ..... Could the elevated NRBC be a function of an enlarged spleen ? I have a few enlarged lymph nodes that come and go ...

Should I be concerned about the elevated NRBC

Thanks in advance for responding....

Is your doctor concerned?

Just so the acronym police don't appear 🚓 ...NRBC is nucleated red blood cells.

Looking at one piece of the puzzle, doesn't say much of the picture, and neither you nor I have the knowledge or skill to access more puzzle pieces... best to wait...

New hematologist was not concerned about the NRBC reading but did ask for an updated full blood test in 4 months including a Coombs test ..... Can Coombs test results change with CLL? ... 2 years ago it had been negative and I was never asked to repeat the test ...I thought Coombs test results remained static... either one was Coombs positive or Negative

Then again the New Doc asked for updated glucose and other tests some which had also last been done over a year ago....

Just asking if full battery of tests are redone periodically even when initial results were good

Tried researching and was not successful ...

Sounds like it's nothing of any significance and no cause for concern.

Sometimes these analysers are trying to count the difference between 0.01 and 0.02 as in your case and the sensitivity of the analyser is probably at this level. If your same blood sample had been tested again it could have come out as 0.01 and normal.

Keep your eye open for the result the next time and if it's higher perhaps it might be something but this result now is nothing to worry about if everything else is as it should be.

Best wishes

Jackie

Thanks much for putting it into perspective .... guess I should be grateful that the lymphocytes are still hovering in the 20s ..... Any results in the red are scary ... You people are amazing providing a forum to vent and ask questions ....

Sometimes just articulating the problem helps put us back on track

Thanks for being there!!

Red blood cells (RBC) ....you may want to get your B12 levels checked.. every CLL patient should have this done... ask your GP...

Could there be a B12 deficiency even if RBC and Hemoglobin are within range??

Sure... its about function rather than numbers..get your B12, folate, and VitD levels checked annually...
