Hello ! This is my first post !! 1 and a half year ago at the age of 29 i had a blood test that showed my wbc around 13000 and alc around 7000. After a flow cytometry test i was diagnosed with monoclonal b lympocytosis (mbl cll like). I have no other symptoms till then only raised wbc and alc. I do blood test every 3 months.. sometimes the alc dicreases to 6000 and sometimes it raises again.. on my last exam the alc raised to 8000.. and i was panicked.. every day i wonder if or when my mbl will develop to be concidered cll.. that is so stressfull.. every time i do my blood test i stick so much to numbers( now its 6000,now its 7500,now 6500 again). I dont want to live the rest of my life with that stress...

Welcome to our community Loti.
Lymphocyte counts bounce up and down for all sorts of reasons - the time of the day, variations with testing laboratories, infections (including some you aren't aware you have termed sub-clinical) and so on. What's important is the overall trend; is your MBL stable or are you in the couple of percent where it progresses to CLL? MBL also becomes increasingly common as we age. Here's a good explanation of MBL:

Thanks for your response! When i did the flow cetometry From the 7.000 lemphocytes the 1.900 were the pathological and those that classified me as an mbl cll like case ( as the doctor said these 1900 have to become at least 5000 to say that its cll). So he told me that there is a small possibility that it may develop to cll.. but we dont know it for sure
A very small percentage..about 1- 2% of Monoclonal B Lymphocytosis (MBL) patients, become CLL.
You appear to be low count Monoclonal B Lymphocytosis (MBL), so the chances are quite small.

Hi Loti. Welcome to the family. I fully understand the panic, Easy to say but do try to stay as calm as you can. It does help to divert your attention (reading walking etc.) stay strong and best wishes.
Thanks for your support!! I have my 4 months old little boy that gives me hope and it really diverts my attention in the best way ! But after my last results i started thinking again all these with the mbl and cll ... from what i can see until now there will be good days full of hope and bad days where i feel desperate and fear about future...
Hi Loti
I was diagnosed with MBL in 2007, since then my lymphocyte count has gone up and down from 2.07 to 7.5, so the numbers do vary on each visit. On the whole I have kept well except for a couple of occasions when I have posted on here. Although very relieved and grateful I have not been diagnosed with CLL as most people posting on this site, I have found it very informative and reassuring as MBL is not heard of much even within the medical profession I have found but it is still worrying for the person who has it. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know) and find out all you can on MBL. You will find you will worry less and less as time goes by.
Hi! I was just reading your post.
I haven’t been officially diagnosed with anything. But my story sounds similar to yours.
I have had several CBC. Although the last one had decreased from 16 to 12 wbc.
Everything else is in normal range.
I had a CT done and everything was normal.
Because it’s still elevated... my doctor wants me to go to a specialist.
I’m terrified and afraid to make the appointment.
I was wondering how things were going for you.
Did your wbc ever decrease?
And I was wondering what alc meant?
Thank you
