Ibrutinib treatment

I have been fighting CLL for 10 years. I was put on Ibrutinib lat month. Except for minor rash and some joint pain, I have not had other problemes. My appetite has somewhat improved. My WBC has, however, increased (from 283 to 310) which I understand is typical at the beginning of treatment. My platelet count which was around 100 before treatment has increased to 140 (lower normal level) which is a puzzle for me.

My platelet count also increased back into the normal range in the first 30 days of Ibrutinib, Mike. I think it shows that the Ibrutinib is working and has already cleared enough of your marrow for you to make normal # of platelets again. Good luck!

Hi, that's all a completely normal response to Ibrutinib and it's clearly doing it's job of clearing out your nodes and marrow so that the normal blood cells can grow.

Great news that the side effects have been minimal too.

Don't forget to keep drinking liquids as there is quite a lot of CLL to get rid of
