Hi Everyone

Well pre-op date for hubby is the 29th March at the Horton in Banbury and op date is Monday 24th April at the Churchill ....I'm feeling nervous about length of waiting time, but it is only 5 weeks away.......

I seem unable to stop shaking !!!!!!! Just need to get this over with.

Will keep you updated .

Time flies when you don't want it to and drags when you have to wait doesn't it? It's not long.....but it is.

Thinking of you

I feel for you Susie because I think that whatever happens to us personally, it pales into insignificance when it's happening to the people we love. There's no platitudes that will help but I'd urge you not to over-think this or catastrophise it in your mind. You've had positive news about things and the op is a means to eradicate it completely.

Stay focussed on successful outcomes and easier times. People are here for you.

Warm best wishes,

Newdawn

Thank you everyone, I can't thank you enough for all your support. It really helps to know that I am not alone on this journey. Will keep you informed as and when op is over with and what they decide to do if any treatment afterwards is needed.

Susie it is good to have the date but frightening too.

My husband had his surgery at The Churchill 4 weeks ago and the care he had was wonderful. I know just how hard it is to be the 'on looker'. Hoping that all will be well and a good positive outcome will follow surgery.

Best wishes to you both.

I am not sure what your husband is having done, but my spleen was removed in the Churchill Jan 14. The care (especially on day shifts) was just brilliant: they got me up and walking quickly and were available to support me as I lumbered round with my drips on walks as often as I wanted to - really helped speed of recovery.

One tip though.... you might want to think about decent, simple food you could take him in (food was bearable, but pretty basic - I really appreciated the good salads people brought!). He will do well!

Hi Quarry

Hubby is to have colorectal surgery. They found a "mass" two weeks ago, but thankfully no spread. He is also suffering with iron deficiency anaemia, so need this out asap.

Im sure he will want food bought in just not sure about salads ESPECIALLY with being on iron tablets !!!!

Hope you are well now. Take care

Lots of spinach?! With pine and cashew nuts and yummy dressing - what is not to like?!!!

Smuggling in raw steak and liver might be more difficult, but good luck in trying!!

I would ask about his post surgery diet now. Depending on the surgery he may be on a liquid or soft diet after so as not to disturb the surgery site. Knowing what is allowed will give you something tithing about and plan for if he is allowed food from outside. it will also help you to have what you need when he gets home. it drives me crazy when doctors hand me a prescription to pick up or a diet to follow when I am released. Its so much nicer to be able to just go straight home, knowing that everything you need is already

in place.

If I'm really honest I haven't thought about his diet for when he comes home....thanks for mentioning it. Another query/question for my list.

Take care

Susie
