Dandelion root?

This is a link sent to me by my daughter - as always, it needs more in-depth research and lacks references. I'd be interested to know if anyone has more information: healtheternally.com/1562/da...

The sky reflects the sea. Eastbourne looks good.

It relates to CMML...

You perhaps might want to follow the clinical studies at University of Windsor, Ontario on dandelion root extract and CMML.

CMML is NOT CLL. However, note that the trial is open to CLL patients per: 'Patients will be eligible for this trial if they have a refractory hematologic malignancy and have exhausted all standard medical treatments for their cancers' (My emphasis)

My advice would be to stick with proven CLL treatments and follow the trial outcomes, or if you really want to try an alternate/complementary way to slow your CLL progression, try something for which there is far better evidence for efficacy with CLL, like EGCG/Green tea. There's a good chance that a few of the 30 patients being recruited for the dandelion root extract trial will have CLL and have sadly exhausted all options available to them i.e. are refractory. I hope you are not in that dire situation.

Thanks Neil - I'm still w&w but looking at conventional treatments. Only interested in alternatives if there's research to back them up, although I have many dandelions in the garden and sometimes cook with the leaves!

Thanks AussieNeil - I'm thankfully not in that situation. I always check the research on new therapies, hadn't heard of this one before so wanted the community perspective (which I'm always very grateful for). I sometimes supplement my vegetables with dandelion leaves, but that's as far as I've been with that particular plant!
