That's a very good question and there has been lots of past discussion. Type "Green Tea" and read the previous posts. Then do a search with "EGCG" and read much more. Happy reading .

In my own opinion ,i think green tea is only any good for those that sell it , again my own opinion ,i think doctors would prescibe it if that was the answer ,save the NHS mllions.
My sister in law has just paid £40 for someone to hold a crystal inches from her leg to take away the pain, she states she is now out of pain ,i think she has more money then sense ,so who is right ,i would say my sister in law .
At least with green tea, we do have properly conducted clinical trials - by the highly respected Mayo Clinic non the less, that showed that EGCG, the active ingredient in green tea, did shrink the nodes and reduce the lymphocyte count for most of the patients in the trial. Those trials were funded in part by people with CLL via Chaya Vekat's CLL Topics/Updates.

thankyou for that its good to know Neil I continue to drink it .
You'll need to move your kettle into the smallest room in the house and sit there drinking it all day to get a therapeutic dose . You need to take at least a gram or more of EGCG per day, which works out to several cups of tea an hour - all day long!
Taking it in capsule form means you can actually leave the smallest room and get on with your life...

My CLL specialist recommended I take green tea supplements after I finished 6 cycles of FCR...for what it's worth! Anyway, it can't have done me much good as my remission only last 12 months. Perhaps I didn't take enough of the supplements...?
It could have been that you weren't taking enough green tea supplements or
2) Fell into the reasonably large group that saw no benefit
3) Had developed more aggressive CLL clone(s) following your treatment that needed stronger medicine than green tea supplements
The trials were conducted on stage A CLL patients; we don't know how well green tea works on previously treated patients or what CLL markers in untreated patients correspond with a high likelihood of an effective response.

I switched to green tea when first diagnosed in 2006 and have to say I really enjoy it. Can't face a cup of ordinary tea at all. Also take supplements.
Last July I had to see a consultant with a prostate problem and he advised cutting back on tea and coffee so I duly took his advice and stopped the supplements. Recent blood tests have shown no change in my count. This of course proves nothing.
I'm now back on regular cups of green tea because I enjoy it and of course it may well help.
Best wishes

Really pleased for those that say it works for them ,and long may it do so ,myself will be saving the green tea money and have a nice holiday somewhere, and have a nice green cocktail followed by a few beers.
