Hi I live with CLL using ibrutinib. A side effect is for example this morning my finger is seized up and very painful. My foot has some pain too. Is glucosamine any use? Other days knees, ankles, elbows, wrists can be painful.

Is glucosamine any use in my case?
Hi Corin,
I have extensive arthritis and sympathise with your pain but mine isn't connected with taking Ibrutinib because my CLL is untreated so I don't know if the same treatment rules would apply. If the problem has started in direction connection with the meds I'd be discussing the side effects with your physicians.
Over the years I've explored many supplements including glucosamine and chondroitin and they've been of little use. Unfortunately only anti-inflammatories work and they have other undesirable side effects. Having said that some people swear by glucosamine even though the research I've read seems unable to offer a compelling reason to use it.
My advice would be to medically explore the reason for the pain first though I appreciate that the possible side effects of Ibrutinib are just starting to emerge and many not be so thoroughly understood yet.
In the meantime, an anti-inflammatory gel on your joints may offer some relief but I'd hesitate to suggest ingested meds because of possible interactions. Good luck.

Might trying increasing your hydration with water for a few days and see if that has an effect... you need to flush the dead B cells through the kidneys and that takes fluids. Otherwise you may get a rise in uric acid...the cause of gout etc...
My 87 year old mum has no aches or pains and does press ups every morning. She puts it down to a daily tablespoon of black strap molasses that a nurse friend told her about to keep the joints and muscles supple.
Right....Where can I get molasses in Australia ?
