I am taking them for an additional 3 months, but I am having no problems post treatment. It may vary from person to person and bloods.

Hi Bandsman, I did 5 rounds of FCR - last one Aug 6th, it was decided with my consultant not to do number 6. I was one of the unlucky ones who was sick, a lot of people aren't, but once I was over the sickness I will say I felt really well. In fact I feel better now than I have for a very long time. I hope all goes well for your husband.

thanku louise66 we hope you continue to feel well, it is such a lot to take in at the start, I like to be prepared for whatever we face, thanks again

I finished FCR in December, still on Aciclover and Septrin (cotrimoazole). I expect to be on them at least until December when i see my consultant next. That is, unless my GP decides to stop them in the meantime, which I doubt.

Currently taking one Aciclover in morning and one in evening seven days a week. Septrin taken one a day Mon, Wed and Fri (yes, three a week).

Consultant's comment was along lines of 'added protection just in case'.

I have been on Cotriaxamole for 18 months and my consultant wants me to stay on them until February 2014. I take two tablets daily every Saturday and Sunday. As yet I have had no infection in spite of spending lots of time with young grandchildren who are often coughing and spluttering over me. I understand the tablets prevent chest infections. My GP said "they are a good old-fashioned antibiotic." No side effects either.

I have been on cotrimoxazol and septrin for 11 (eleven) years. I take the septrin three days each week. After fludara I had a bad case of shingles resulting in me being peg fead and chest infections when I had fluid drained from my lungs twice but since then despite having FCR chlorambucil and now GS1101 I have not had any further episodes.

I was not aware of these drugs and have not taken them! Should I have taken them? I finished FCR nearly 2 years ago with no side effects and am still very well.

I've been taking 2 Aciclovir and 1 Cotrimoxazole per day for 3months as directed by my Senior Nurse Specialist. My Consultant said carry on for another 3 months even though I've been quite well. There doesn't seem to be any standardisation !!

It depends I believe, on the state of the immune system going into and after treatment. Everyone's immune systems are at different points, some need extra help and protection.

I had my 6th and final FCR in July and my specialist has told me that I can stop taking the aclovir but to continue with the septrin for 6 months.

I’ve taken acyclovir since I started BR treatment in November 2015. I’ve had 2 very small areas of shingles. I will continue on it indefinitely.
