Don't understand what is happening with me, had tests at my G.P's this didn't show anything, getting worried about these episodes, the pain can happen at any time, no matter where or what i'm doing! hurts 2 breath and can't move.. only lasts about 5 mins, feel daft if i went to A&E..

Go to A&E ASAP and they will investigate, the Medical Team can really only tell what the problem is if they do an angiogram and if there is a blockage they will do an angioplasty. I know that's sounds daunting, but it's not painful just a little uncomfortable. A few famous people have had this done Prince Philip, Harry Redknapp and recently Justin Webb and hundreds of other patients and you can get back to a completely normal life after.

Go to hospital, I had pains, and tests through my GP for about a year and was told nothing wrong and then I had a heart attack. You know your body and when something is not right and I wouldn't ever just accept what they say again without proper checks,- not just an ecg which is what is normally done. Keep going back, again and again until they sort it. xx Mags

Please, please go to A & E. (hopefully you have already decided to go after reading the other posts).

I can only go on my daughter-in-laws experience earlier this year. She visited her G.P. twice with symptoms and was given an ECG on both occasions, neither showed any problem. A few days later my son had to call 999 when she had a really bad turn and even the ambulance crew did an ECG and no problem was found and they were reluctant to take her to hospital as it was so far away. In fact they said it was probably a panic attack!! She insisted she wanted to go to hospital to be checked (this for us was a sure indication something was definately wrong as she hates hospitals!) turned out it was a heart attack and only a blood test proved it. She was told that in women especially heart problems do not appear to show up normally with just an ECG. Luckily she was treated successfully and had stents fitted. So please don't leave it any longer to go to A & E....that's what they're there for so don't feel daft for going and if it turns out to be nothing (hopefully it will) at least you will have been checked out properly and your mind will be put at rest about it.

When you have the pain, I encourage you to "feel daft" and call 999, it could save your life!

The paramedics and ambulance crew won't mind, in fact they'll prefer it; they've told me so on 2 occassions! Feeling daft and staying alive is much better than being daft AND dead!

As for the tests, an ECG is only a snapshot, it doesn't show underlying or slowly developing problems. When I had my heart attack in August, the ambulance crew took 8 x ECGs of me. Only 2 of them suggested a heart attack, the other 6 were normal!

If you won't go to A & E or call 999, then insist on being referred to a cardiologist; they'll soon work out what's going on OR be able to reassure you that it's not heart related. Your GP can't do that, they're not trained to.

Take care of yourself, it's your responsibility.

Go to the emergency and have them run the blood panel to see if you have enzymes that show you are having a heart attack. Have them rule out that you are having a heart attack and don't leave until you are satisfied that you are NOT having one. They have all kinds of tests that can detect this easily. In women an EKG is often not accurate. Microvascular disease (coronary artery disease of the small vessels in women) can be a problem that is far harder to detect as I am told.

Please go to A&E I was out shopping 12/12/2012 and came home to find my husband in awful pain he looked grey he told me he had felt like this for about 90 mins, I called 999 straightaway whilst all the time he was telling me it would just go away. He has had a massive heart attack and has been left with permanent damage to his heart he is only 54 this all happened just 11 days ago, 2 of my friends at work have got home from work to find there hubands dead after having heart attacks, someone was looking out for my husband that day a fact that will haunt me for the rest of my life. I know its scary for you but the paramedics really wont mind.

My husband had pain on exertion and was going back and forth and it was only when a friend in the medical profession said a resting ECG may not show up the problem and what he needed was a stress test on a treadmill to see if it was angina. He requested an urgent test and lo and behold it was positive and an angiogram showed up a blockage that required a stent. Please insist strongly on further tests ASAP !!!!!
