After a vasovagal syncope in Feb.2024 I was sent for brain MRI scan. And a ECG .The result was scar evidence of a small stroke on left side of my head. The ECG was clear. My blood pressure was back to normal around 132/72. I was put on Candestarten clexitel 8 mg daily , atorvastatin 20 mg and Clopidogrel 75 mg.

I began to bleed from my vagina and nose after 2 days. Eventually after phone appt. with GP was told to stop the Clopidogrel and try again in a month. Before then I had numb fingers when sitting and numb and swollen feet and ankles. Had difficulty keeping awake. Muscle weakness. Given an appt for three weeks time. I told booking assistant I was going to stop the Clopidrigol . I later got one in 10 days. GP said to stop both Clopidrigol and Atorvastarten. He has prescribed:

Dipyridamole 200 mg twice a day. Plus Aspirin 75 mg once a day instead still on Candestarten.

So what I would like to know has anyone had experience of taking this cocktail. As reading internet post from Mayo Clinic it states that as taking these two anticoagulant doubles the effect and may experience heavy bleeding. !!!

I seem to be making matters worse by dropping Clopidrigol for the Dipyridamole and Aspirin. I got these this morning, and I don’t feel happy about taking them the bleeding starting again.

When I started taking these three after the scan, GP told me ‘not to worry as they were only a precaution against a stroke’ . Which of course, makes sense, as I am 84, it is the side effects that have come with them.

Apologies for long winded tale. Any comments would be appreciated.
