surgery went ahead, and my horrible tumour is now gone. It will be a while though before i dont need bandages, but…..
It … is… gone!
I managed to spend just one night in hospital, and shocked I think everyone by recovering from a pretty heavy anaesthetic in almost record time. Medical staff were also slightly surprised that no pain killers were needed…. Oh well. Ive saved the health service 32p in medication and probably cost them £100k in staff and theatre time.
The procedure was more serious than expected. 8 theatre staff and 5 hours, but went well. I was nervous, but we’d had so many meetings about this before hand, it was almost like id been there before. Preparation is everything, and we were all so properly prep’d, it meant everything ran smoothly.
I didnt sleep at all Monday night, and saw 5 am, my favourite time of day. I love dawn. The breaking of dawn washes away yesterday, and brings new challenges, new opportunities. I love watching the Sun come up in the summer, the light washing away the darkness. I picked a tune by David Gilmour for our wedding called 5 am, an instrumental piece show casing his iconic guitar. I find it lifts me. I thought about this piece at 5 am on monday when i couldnt sleep.
We also had tunes by Enya at our wedding, and while we did not use this one, she did a dramatic tune called Cursum Perficio. Sung in Latin, it has the lyric “Post Nubila Phoebus”.
Which means “after the clouds, the Sun”.
Together the two tunes say how i feel about the surgery 48 hours later. Its a new day, and the clouds of the trauma of the last year are gone. The Sun is here now.
The brilliant Nina Simone sang it like no one else ever could…..
Its a new dawn
Its a new day
Its a new life for me…
And i’m feeling good!!

Wow, what a trooper! Your song choices, and lyrics, brought a tear to my eye - what an amazing reference and a admirable outlook you have. I need to be more Circuitbreaker!
Take it easy, that was a big op and you don't have to break all the records ;o)
Heeey, Bro!! Glad you came out so beautifully!!! I hope your recoup. is going fine. Thank you for letting me know you're ok and that everything went out just fine! How is it going now? You missin' your old massive friend yet? I hope not!!! 😄 PD: Good selection of music!
Yep, its going just fine. It is proving to be harder to take it easy than I anticipated. Frankly, I'm absolutely utter [beep!] at taking it easy! I'm terrible!
I tried watching England try to play cricket at the World Cup, but frankly, that just stressed me out, so we've decided that tonight, we'd pay homage to the Indian World cup and have a take away Biryani and some papadums. Sometimes, you just have to say, look this is what I need .....
Well, its my excuse and I am sticking with it.😆
Not being one to leave things be, we've started identifying our next travel plans. I do not like being someone not having plans. So we now have kernels of plans.
And something has hit me somehow, we are looking at different ways to travel and different places. At the moment, fjords and Norway has floated, but early days. That might be my bandana inspired pirate look however ...
While I was prep'ing for the op, I'm sorry to say that my cousin passed away after a serious fall. I did know it was likely given the injuries, but it was held from me (rightly) because we were in final prep for surgery. That hit me hard on Friday. And if I'm honest, it makes me realise just how tired I am.
But it does make me more resolved.
Get busy living, because life is so short it is precious .....
So glad that you made it through your surgery with flying colors! Your spirits are high and I'm so happy for you. Travel planning is such fun. Take care and wishing you all the best in your recovery.
