I don't know whether we are allowed to share helpful things on this site, but I for one would appreciate hearing of things that have helped, or do help, others.I listened to this meditation today (Wednesday 10 April 2024) on an app called Soulspace. It has a bit of religious content, though, which might put some people off.
I hate what I see in the mirror, but do feel I am a beautiful person inside, and I believe you all are too! Thank you all for being there - I feel you are all friends because you understand what the rest of us feel. Thank goodness for this website!

Hi WorthyToBeLoved,
I cant see any reason why helpful suugestions of this type can’t be shared. Other users are free to reject them as them as they see the need. Obviously what works for one person may not work for others… so people need to adjust their strategies to what works for them.
The only thing I would suggest is stearing clear of suggesting specific surgeons, procedures or medicines. That kind of information is so specific BUT it may not be appropriate for the reader in question. Not all medications can be taken by everyone (for instance, im not allowed grapefruit juice, go figure!). So unless you’re a qualified and registered medic in full possession of a medical history, this kind of suggestions probably should be a no-no.
And if you are ever unsure, talk to your GP about your concerns first. Use common sense.
But what you are talking about here is a relaxation technique which isnt regulated.
CB (currently taking an amazing holiday, another recognised relaxation technique!!)
Thank you for your post, I think it's a very kind thing to do to share things that help you relax and feel better about yourself. Hopefully others will reply with what they like to do to help them relax.
I'm struggling to find a meditation that works for me, although I'm noticing that just sitting with a cup of tea and staring into space and letting my thoughts flow is a form of meditation that is working for me. Another one that helps me to relax is mentally visualising one body part at a time and imagining the sun is shining on these body parts and warming them up 🔆.
thank you so much for sharing this. I certainly am looking for any tools I can to help me cope with how I look. (Part of my nose was bitten off by a dog November and so far I have had 6 reconstructive surgeries.) I hate what I see in the mirror too!!! Love Yellow-wellies x
Bless you, my love, so sorry to hear what happened to you. That was bad enough, but then to go through so many surgical procedures. I hope they do a really good job.
Isn't it funny, we can say things to other people, like 'It looks worse to you, but other people won't notice', etc, but that doesn't help how we feel.
I wonder why we care so much about how we look, and how others see us. Why are we comparing ourselves to others. Maybe we have had cruel comments in the past, but it just shows how unkind those people are.
I've never seen you, but I know you are a beautiful person! Very best wishes! xxx
Unfortunately this society puts too much emphasis on shallow aspects of life. This life’s marketing strategy is geared to look beautiful/perfect body /perfect life/job etc. It only stirs up the insecurities within us. Those of us like you and me are gawped at like some weird creatures, what they don’t realise is that we have raised above their shallow and vapid mindsets and our struggle has made us stronger more resilient and are conscious of our internal beauty. Beauty is only skin deep what counts is our behaviour and actions towards others. We have to use whatever resources available as coping mechanism. Mine is my red lipstick💋 Thank you fot sharing your meditation find. I find my own mediation while weeding in my garden its my additional mindfulness exercise beneficial for both of us. Yes let’s raise our self esteem we are beautiful in our inner souls. If they don’t like what they see, tough deal with it. Don’t let them contaminate us with their own securities. I have come to terms with looking like Quasimodo when I look in my internal mirror I am belle!😎
Thank you for your very wise words about what really matters (eg how nice we are on the inside, rather than what we look like). It's a truth people like us know deep down. However, after having hurtful comments made since I was seven years old, I still am on tenterhooks that I will get them again from others. I don't seem to be able to let go of my lack of self-esteem. However, I have had so much help and healing over the years, I'm grateful for that much.
You're a beautiful soul - carry on rocking that red lipstick and making a positive difference! All the best! xxx
Thank you for sharing. If only mirrors could show souls, true beauty would shine more golden then any external beauty. You are absolutely worthy to be loved, I believe it starts with loving ourselves. ❤️
Thank you so much for your beautiful words. I love the sentence 'if only mirrors could show souls' - it's beautifully poetic. I will treasure those words forever. You are definitely a very beautiful soul! xxx
