good evening/morning,just a quick nonsense question for you guys ,I was informed today by my good(ish) lady wife that my facial fur is going a nice colourless colour or ice blonde as I like to call it ha ha, anyhow what's the general consensus on a 50 yr old with a grey(ING) not all ice blonde yet.d,o you think this makes someone look a lot older than there years or is it an evil plan by her who must be obeyed for me to get shot of it?the trouble I can see is that I use the fur as kind of a discise , something for me to hide behind etc,so any thoughts would be most welcome ,best wishes Steve

Loaded question of the day or what ??? Thanks Steve! :-)

Also have grey bits, but I can never grow a proper beard. I get what Mrs CB calls "bristles", so they get shaved, generally only when I can be better than lazy.

I do keep my hair longer now though and that, as you imply, is down to using it a tactical cover for some of my lumps, not that works particularly!

I don't think there is a right answer here, either. All beards can look good, but they need care and trimming, as does longer hair. If its tidy and well kept, it can look great and very distinguished. Untidy though and you can end up looking like James May after a tractor / hedge fight, so .... :-) It tends to be untidiness I think that ages me, Every face is different. Knowing what suits you takes some finding, particularly if you aren't a natural model (like I'm not!)

I can't imagine my Dad without a beard (aged 80). Nor Sean Connery in later life (beard), nor Ant Middleton (SAS Who Dares wins), nor a lot of other people.

There are some who if the bearded up, I'd think "uh, no!". Jeremy Clarkson with a beard, maybe not.... Its the beard and the face together, not the age, to worry about!

I'd say you have to feel comfortable, and discussing that with Mrs Steve is a great move. It may not be what she wants to hear, but one thing I do know is that wives and husbands do like honesty and truth, so just saying "look, I'm a bit more comfy like this for the moment!" will probably get a irate sigh, but some understanding I'd guess. You know though best how that relationship works!

One truth is we are all getting older and wiser. We can fight it until we scream, but it still happens. Making sure we make the very best of how we are all, well, that is so important to our self image and prestige.

You can try to hide issues, like I do with my lumps, but you can also be open and upfront. There is no right and wrong here, You will work out between you what's right!
