I am here on behalf of my mother who is 91 and generally very fit and healthy. However she has osteochondroma of the face and she is now struggling with a shiny red golf ball sized lesion on her left cheek. This has grown and is distorting her eye.
She is undergoing radiotherapy and we are hoping this will stop it getting any larger. However she is aware how different she now looks and would like to improve the appearance of her face so that she is less self-conscious when interacting with other people. While most adults are very understanding, the appearance of her eye and cheek can be distressing to younger children which in turn makes her upset, especially with grand / great grandchildren.
She uses make-up to soften the appearance, but she also wishes to consider some sort of extended eye patch or partial face mask to cover up the affected part of her face. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has a similar condition and who might have ideas for an innovative solution.
Thank you
Jim
