Acid reflux leads to bronchitis attack?

I have acid reflux which leads to a bronchitis attack. My throat developes mucus and my breathing is affected. This happens several times a night. Taking cough syrup for mucus but brings only temporary relief or no relief at all. Taking nexium over the counter 20 mg. Any suggestions?

Diet modification (no dairy, very hot or very cold drinks, no alcohol or caffeine or acidic and spicy foods) all help with the reflux. Sleep on a slope (you can buy wedge shaped pillows) or sleep on your left side. If you can control the reflux a little, hopefully it will help with the cough.
