Good afternoon everyone

Has anyone experienced a severe hernia following their liver transplant?

I am due to get mine fixed in April, and would appreciate your stories. Has it fixed the issue, has the big bulge on your tummy gone, how was recovery etc.

Much appreciated.

Hi, I had 2 inscicional hernia, one a large lump sticking out my right side had a piece of bowel in it, the other one in my vertical scar. First appeared in November 2019 saw transplant surgeon at Addenbrookes in January 2020 he said needs repaing asap but then covid hit, eventually had operation in Feb 2022. What happened to me is very very rare and you won't experience it. Should have been in hospital a week but ended up in hdu with pneumonia so was in 2 weeks, readmitted 2 weeks later with an infection in the wound, 8 weeks in hospital, 13 operations took until the November for wound to heal. I had my whole transplant scar opened up again for the repair. Surgeon blames all I went through in diabetes. I was 5 years post transplant at the time.Even without all I went through the pain from hernia repair is worse than transplant. I know many people that have had hernia repair out of hospital in a few days, no complications. As will you.

I am booked to have one repaired next Thursday. It should have been a month ago, but they gave away my bed. I will report back afterwards to answer the questions :)
