Hernia doctor dead cute!

Um yeah!!

Mmmmmmm

Something about urgent operation. Something about in two months. Blah blah!

I wonder if he works out??

Mmmmmmmmmm

No wedding ring!!!!!

I said you are aware that I have cirrhosis? He said he read something about it. I had to repeat several times that I am a high risk hernia case. He said speak to my liver doctor as all they are looking at is the hernia. I said you realise I won’t go hone the next day like all his other cases. He noted it.

How can someone be that cute!!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

I said about portal hypertension and he noted that. He wanted me to meet the actual surgeon as he was only a doctor. The surgeon was too busy to see me.

He must work out!!!!!

Mmmmmmmmmm.

So I’m penciled in for the operation. It’s up to me to get the liver doctors included. I said I want to make sure the liver can handle the operation. He said I may go decompensated again but they will deal with that if it happens. I don’t think he understood the cirrhosis to well.

I wonder if I can troll him on Facebook 😂

Looks like Bertha is going bye bye!!

Wish I could say the same about my Dr. It would make visits a bit more pleasant. 🤔🤔🤔

Well that's a positive then! A better verdict than last time! :-)

Hopefully he will find Bertha a new home, good luck.

I fear this is sometimes where things go wrong. I had a similar experience Brett, this was with my diabetes doctor. Post transplant. They are only interested at that particular part of the body, and don't look at the bigger picture.

I explained that l found it hard to accept my diabetes and wanted to understand the cause. Before my transplant my old liver became insulin resistant, so l could accept this. Post transplant, it is due to the anti-rejection medication. When l explained all this to the diabetes doctor, he started on about a code of ethics that doctors have to follow, and that they are not to allow their field of expertise to encroach upon another doctors field of expertise. So he went on to say that he wasn't allowed to talk about the liver as his organ was the Pancreas.

So, l totally understand your frustration.

That’s true Richard. I’ve never thought of it in that way. I always think “one body one doctor “ but that’s not true. It should be called “pass the buck” 😂

Oops! I messed up his liver during the hernia surgery. Your problem now mr/ms/miss/gender neutral doctor 😂

Hence I am under 5 consultants! When I had my emergency surgery in February for a twisted bowel that was close to rupturing. In the ward I knew all about getting mobile BUT, in spite of explaining I had a bladder prolapse they insisted I walked to the loo! It wasnt in the ward but across and further down. I was in full view of patients doctors and visitors! I'm not incontinent but when I need to wee I have less than a minute to get to the loo. They talk about dignity but mine was demolished! I even said if you bring me a commode I will walk every floor of the hospital! It was impossible to run with a massive scar and a zimmer! I wasnt allowed food until day 9 so I was weak as a kitten. I had spent first 5 days bedridden, in a different ward. due to pneumonia I had on admission , GP diagnosed a virus in January! Ha. 5 hours plus surgery went well but I was desperate get home. Totally agree that other conditions are ignored! I have several varieties of arthritis and under consultants for hip and ankle. It was nursing staff who ignored my pleas. Good job I was drugged up, or they would have had both barrels!

Hi Bob

Two months for an “urgent” case - hmmm thought that only happened in our impoverished NHS (PS I think the NHS is great btw it’s just the waiting times which, to me, are the issue ☹️).

But on the plus side at least something is happening and you have found another “friend” 😁👍.

Good luck me ol’ fruit 👍

Brett, I won't mention the Dick Emery quote again🤣🤣, but, like Miles, I think 2 months wait is NOT urgent enough. Have you told Bertha her days are numbered🤣🤣

On a side note, the hernia doctor said that it was the biggest one he has ever seen!! I told him “erm! That’s not my hernia!”

Boom! Boom! Exit stage left!!!

I will miss your Bertha stories. Cute doc & agreement to get rid of your hernia, that's a good appt! I'm sure they'll be careful with you when the time comes.

in reply toSupportinghubby

Perhaps it can be kept in some sort of a fermaldehyde jar on display like some Mary Shelly style show piece? ☺

After Brett's description in the past (airport etc) I would think that a fish tank may be of more use than a jar!! :-)

Brett11 profile image
Brett11 in reply toOwlie

Bertha is my hernia. She is sooo huge that she has her own post code and international airport. She is looking for another host human to I’ve in if your interested? She never pays rent on time and is a pain in the stomach 😂

Haha! Awesome, unfortunately I cannot offer Bertha a home, have you tried the hernia rehoming service? ;)

Ah, poor Bertha she's been a good friend to us, and now a handsome Dr has his eye on her, and is planning on stealing her away from you.

I'm sure the surgeon will discuss with the liver team if they have any concerns. Your blood tests will show if there is anything they need to prepare for, like if you have low platelets or deranged clotting factors. They can then be sure they have bloods cross matched and available for you, plus platelets and plasma. A surgeon would not risk anything dangerous (they don't want to get sued for a start). Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. I've had numerous surgeries for different things since having cirrhosis, I've had no issues with anaesthetic etc.

Just think about the dreamy Dr, and not about the surgery.

I'm going to hold a memorial service for Bertha, and offer her up to the jedi force, if anybody else wants to join me.

Big hugs from blighty x

Hi

You e Mr smile, just what I needed. Good luck with your surgery. Take care Lynne

Hi Brett11,

It is always nice to have an mmmm doctor. As you can see many of us will be missing The Behaviors of Bertha saga - not to be confused with the The Perils of P:auline.

Please make sure your liver doctors and hernia surgeon have gotten together long enough to discuss at the least any possible anesthesia and liver issues. Hubby did not have a large hernia, but it was a "day surgery", Bertha I gather is large enough to warrant a longer surgery repair and thus incurring a longer stay.

Remind me when you get closer, so I can wish you good things regarding your surgery. As of now I will simply wish you an uncomplicated waiting period until you provide a new abode for your delightful Bertha.

Best wishes,

Mary

Hi Brett I just had a second hernia pop up like alien but don’t want an op haven’t even shown doc yet. Thinking they put that mesh in which has caused so many people problems. What are they going to do with yours. I remember you saying a while back it was big.

Brett11 profile image
Brett11 in reply toJulie8

I think they want to do the mesh thing. It’s the only way to tame the beast.

You are incorrigible! 😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣 Don't ever change! 😘
