acid reflux: hello all hope use all had... - British Liver Trust
acid reflux
Certainly was a symptom really suffered with (along with horribly painful indigestion type thing) - he had varices and portal hypertensive gastropathy of the fundus and was put on a PPI (omeprazole) to reduce stomach acid.
I have lanzaparol on repeat but never get it from pharmisest cos I have never suffered until now, I just wondered if it was normal to just start getting the acid av also been so tired last few weeks av been going to bed 6 and sleeping all way thro then still tired, just but concerned as I have felt almost normal for about 6 months now! Thanks for your reply x
Is your stool colour normal? Just a bit concerning re increased tiredness (though that too can be a normal cirrhosis symptom). The lanzaparol would have been prescribed to protect you from excess stomach acid in light of the varices. Hubby wasprescribed it from first signs of his varices.
If youve been prescribed lanzaparole on repeat they probably expect you to be needing it. My husband was and is on omeprezole since banding. I think he had ulcer type things show up in stomach on endoscopies too.
Oh! I didnt realise they made you ill - not much help then🤭. You need to discuss this with a Dr I guess.
If you have been prescribed Lanzoprazole but can't take them maybe ask to try Omeprazole. My husband has been on PPI for over a year and all the gastritis he had has now gone. You could be a bit dehydrated if you are sleeping a lot and stools are tight. But also worrying exacerbates acid reflux and can affect stools but best to get everything checked out to set your mind at rest. Hope all goes well.
I take Esomprazole and was told by my consultant it’s the best - especially the gastroresistant tablets. I find them the most effective. They’re sold commercially as Nexium if you wanted to try them.
One tip...dont drink any coffee. I stopped drinking it and my indigestion stopped overnight
Im on Omeprazole but still occasionally get bad acid reflux at night. I find either esting s banana or drinking a glass of milk then sitting up in bed for a while works. But given your change in symptoms I’d talk to your doctor and get it checked out.
