consistent gas and indigestion

hi there, I don’t know if this is the write place to ask about something like this but I have been having severe gas pains and indigestion for the last month, after trying to eat literally anything, I can’t eat without my stomach hurting a lot, it hurts especially in my sides and belly button

The pain is mostly caused by gas, although it also occurs with diarrhea and bloating

I feel constant movement along my entire stomach, and even when I release gas it doesn’t do anything to relieve the pain

It all started when I got my period a month ago, I was having indigestion but I’ve been told this was normal due to hormonal changes, however my period has been over for 3 weeks and I’m still having indigestion and intolerance combined with loss of appetite. I’ve also been feeling tired and cold though I assume this is just because of how little I’ve been eating

I’ve lost 15 pounds because I’ve been unable to eat anything other than toast and some fruit and vegetables but even they make my stomach hurt

I tried to eat chicken and multi grain bread last night, and my sides hurt terribly along with diarrhea

it took a long time to get a doctors appointment with a gp but when I eventually did she ordered a blood test and a stool sample but both came back normal

She said it may be irritable bowel syndrome. She’s prescribed heartburn and constipation medication but unfortunately they don’t help at all

I am an 18 year old female

Hi Alex35920,

Welcome to the forum. We are sorry to hear of your situation, and we understand this is a worrying time, but no one on the forum is able to diagnose or interpret medical conditions. This is also a forum specifically for liver conditions so people may not be able to advise you.

It is important that you discuss any concerns with your own doctors and medical teams for safe advice.

Best wishes,

British Liver Trust

You may have a condition called Intra Abdominal Pressure (IAP). I had a liver transplant nearly 8 years ago and was left with a very large incicional hernia. Due to high IAP they cannot operate at the moment. Your symptoms sound similar but everybody is different and I may be waffling on a little. Sorry if that's the case. Take care and stay positive.
