Just wondered if anyone has had IBS like symptoms with liver disease and how you cope with it?
I was told I had IBS for 2 years before being diagnosed and I was in a lot of discomfort and could not eat properly. As soon as I was diagnosed and on meds my symptoms went.
However three years later I have started to get it again, get diarrhea and stomach cramps and loose stools & acid reflux and nausea. I have lost my appetite in the past from it and then get nausea when I eat.
Does anyone have similar problems? Trying to find out if it's connected to my liver disease and how to combat it?
All I can do for now is take peppermint oil tablets but just want to get rid of it.
Thanks
Sandy

I have had ibs since birth and when I was diagnosed with cirrhosis I didn't suffer with any ibs symptoms and I mean the cramps and that but stool movements went from one extreme to another which is common with cirrhosis and so is acid reflux... You should go back to gp/consultant and mention what is going on.... Since transplant my ibs has returned with a vengeance
I had a blood test which did not show anything unusual.
My latest liver biopsy last year showed my liver damage had improved from stage 5 to stage 3.
I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, my consultant has a lot of patients with crohns so think he would have diagnosed it as that if it was, but I don't really know how they test for crohns/colitis?
I've already had 2 biopsies.
Thank you for all the information I appreciate it. ☺️
