hi everyone,

Before I write this I was hoping I’d have more info by now… but no.

I’ve been having a lot of pain in my stomach on right. All four quadrant at mildly tender to the touch. This all kick off after having recovered from COVID in October (stomach had been slightly tender a few year prior).

Had trouble after eating, especially take away foods, roast dinners. Ended up with back pain. Saw GP in November. Put me on PPI meds Lazaprenol as have indigestion for a while. They helped to start with. After Christmas and all the over indulgence, the problem ps of right side psin, back psin, nausea here and there returned. Gave it to end of Jan and a better eating routine didn’t the problem.

31st Jan, GP examined me and wanted me to have ultrasound (abdominal). Wasn’t referred until 8th Feb. A month later Community Diagnostics came back with appt for 27th April.

Finally that day arrives. Had ultrasound fine. Just before bank holiday 🙄

I looked online for my results. Waited all week. They came through on Friday 5th May. Just before another bank holiday 🙄🙄

O had the pleasure 🙄 of reading that I have moderate fatty infiltration of the liver parenchyma and pancreas. If that’s not enough haemorrhaging cyst on the right kidney was throw in for good measure.

It sounds as serious as on a screen but, nothing further has happened. Letters back and fourth between GPs and community diagnostics asking for recommendations that were given in the first place 🙄 that is, to have further scans. No idea if that concerns the cyst alone or all three things 🙄

Phoned doctors last Wednesday to express concern that I haven’t been contacted by a doctor and if my results are serious. The response I got was the surgery has been “inundated” they’ll get my nominated GP to call me either Thursday or Friday. Well, it’s Friday evening as I write this and….. nothing. No one’s talking to me about this. Nothing is being done and it’s 12th May. Lovely 🙄

I know no can tell me anything here but… thought I’d share as GPs are suffocating under their desks at the minute 🙄

Sorry for the attitude. I’m stunned really. Stunned.

Wow! That’s amazing! Sorry, not really helpful, except in commiserating with you.

oh that’s okay. I understand. I know very little about what’s going on anyway. I’ll keep on at ‘em.

The good thing about the NHS Ap is that you cane see your results, the bad thing about the Ap is that you can see your results…! GPs are inundated and the recent changes to booking appointments don’t seem like they will help. I think I’d book an appointment to see to my GP in these circumstances, you’ve waited so long, you need to understand what the results mean and what the next steps are. Sadly we are all having to be a bit pushier than we’d normally be and to advocate for ourselves, otherwise we can get lost in the system. Good luck, I hope you get some answers soon

thank you 😊 I’ll keep ringing them. They’ll get fed up before long 😀 and get something sorted sooner.

I’ll look at booking appointments actually. Though you have to what to see a dr. I’m doing that anyway.

Good for you. I think too many people are being left unnecessarily anxious because results aren’t being communicated. Hopefully that will be the case for you. If you need more tests, the sooner the better. Not knowing is horrible. Keep politely pushing

I certainly will. In the meantime mum’s looking at remedies to help with the liver. I’m making changes to my diet as I go along.

Yes, we certainly need to advocate for our health nowadays. We need to look at natural things to do to help as well now. Especially while waiting. Not knowing is the worst isn’t it. That can make you more feel ill in the process. I felt very bad the first week after reading my result. Now, I’m thinking and doing things about it, I feel a bit better!

You’re absolutely right, just be very careful about natural alternatives, some herbal remedies for example can make things worse. It’s really best to wait until you’ve got a diagnosis. Things that help: coffee, beetroot and water cress. Yoga and meditation - anything that relaxes you. No alcohol.

My consultant told me to reduce fat and carbs, but that doesn’t mean no fat or carbs butI was diagnosed early.. Diet for liver disease can depend on the stage so don’t spend energy stressing about food and natural treatments until you know what you’re dealing with. Don’t Google - it will tie you in knots. The BLT site is good. Once you’ve got a diagnosis ask for a referral to a dietician, that way you’ll get good evidence based advice.

hi, just an update on this situation.

I managed to contact doctor to speak about my abdominal ultrasound and what the results mean for me. What to do next.

Doctor wants me to have full blood work done. I’ve booked my blood test for 5th June.

He says that fatty liver is common. I need to loose weight and eat healthier.

Further imaging seems more to relate to the kidney cyst rather than fatty liver and pancreas. They are STILL waiting on recommendation on that from radiologist.

That was it really. It’s somewhat reassuring and I can definitely start to do something now.

Thank for you replies everyone.
