Hi Etymolog.I know you must be concerned but I think they would contact you earlier if there was a problem. I have at one point had to phone up to ask to speak to my Consultant after having my routine 6 months Bloods and MRI scans to ask questions about my results. I have received letters after my scans saying all had no features of concern and my Liver blood results were normal range but there were still questions I needed to ask. I've always had phone consultations and I think I have only ever seen my Consultant once when I went to hospital for tests after having my CT scans which showed Cirrhosis evidence. One day in hospital for tests, and then sent home with prescription of Thiamine to take. Try not to worry and make a list of questions you may want to ask. I'm sure you'll be fine.

All the best

Hello

In addition to the suggestions from members of the forum, here is a link to some information on our website about preparing for appointments, including questions to ask your doctor, which you may find helpful.

I’d see it as a good sign. They have obviously done all the things they are supposed to do to monitor cirrhosis; bloods, scan, review. I suspect the consultant has looked at the results before the clinic and felt that one of the wider team could speak to you to see if you have any questions - given you already know the results of the investigations they’d done. It’s not brilliant practice to change things at the last moment. At my last appointment though …it lasted 5 mins as everything was normal. I didn’t have any questions and he didn’t have much to say, other than to check how I felt. I already had all my results and he just ran through those again and asked if I had any questions - which I didn’t. So he said see you again in six months. I could easily have done that on the phone or not at all to be honest. The important thing for me was that he’d reviewed things, I’d had all the tests and that everything was ok.

Hi …. Try not to worry…. I’ve never met or spoken to “my” consultant in the three years since the one time he called! I go for tests then ask my GP to access any correspondence and results.
