hi thanks for advice on previous post I wonder if I could have some help again sorry since diagnosed with fatty liver I’ve drastically changed my eating habits as I didn’t eat I picked and not on healthy things so I have cooperated a dish of fruit and non fat yogurt into my day aswell as 1 meal of either chicken or fish or porridge but doctor have now said I am eating to much fruit as they got natural sugars in so I am awaiting a dietician which could take a few months but if I didn’t eat the fruit per day I would just have the one meal as we all know how exspensive it is for fish etc so wanted to ask this group if they found the fruit is ok to eat by eating fruit it’s 1 apple strawberries blackberries and a banana or grapes thanks

Hey there. Don’t forget your exercise. I’ve noticed that a lot of people with liver issues tend to just focus on what’s good for the liver (which is very important to do). But many don’t show as much attention to all the systems ie respiratory , circulatory etc. Remember they are all working together. Be sure to focus on overall health. It has helped me maintain a fairly productive compensated liver. Good luck with everything. God Bless.

What fruits are you eating? Raspberries, blueberries and cranberries are quite good as are blackberries. Pineapple is delicious but quite high in sugar as are lovely satsumas and apples, and great big scrummy ripe bananas that really should be sliced and shared with others and a sensible yoghurt or creme fraiche, but ice cream and custard always shout at me, or a sponge with fruit topping. Yes, I enjoy a fruit and sweet things are my kryptonite, so I try to be very careful what I add to fruit. I do add a little fruit to my cous cous with my chicken or fish. It makes a nice change with a little seasoning.

You need to think about quantities in anything unfortunately. I went on a fruit fest and found I affected my blood readings.

To help me I have small amounts of cereal like rice with veg that l chop up to tiny pieces. I have a mixture of them and I eat them with fish or chicken.

I eat rice pudding but have it made with soya milk and reduce how much sugar I add and use the fruit (portion controlled) instead. If you stick to things it is amazing what you can force yourself to eat. I used to hate mushrooms and soya milk was vile, but milk wasn't agreeing with me. Now I can't stand tea given to me with milk and porridge is much better with soya or almond milk as far as I am concerned. I even like big mushrooms grilled or baked with a little cheese and tomato topping.

Hi, When I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver, I switched to a more healthy diet, which included loads of fruit. The Liver nurse had discussed diet with me, but never mentioned limiting how much fruit I ate, so was never aware that might me a problem (and was certainly better than the cakes/biscuit/chocolate that the fruit replaced!). My Fibroscan reading was 9.8 kPA. A CT scan, with contrast, 9 months later showed that my liver was completely normal, so fingers-crossed my diet worked. Maybe you could give the Liver nurses on here a call for advice? Fingers-crossed all goes well for you!

You're welcome - the admin team have replied to various posts suggesting people call the Liver Trust's nurses for advice, giving the number, but I can't find it. The general number is given as 0800 652 7330, so maybe try that and they can put you through or give you the right number? Good luck! xx
