Hi, food is an issue I have had since first being diagnosed in 2017. I really struggle to put a healthy, tasty meal together. I know exactly what I need to eat, its just putting it together to enjoy a meal rather that eating because I have to, which is what I do now, Easy quick lunches for work. Evening meals that don’t take hours. Has anyone found any decent recipe books for Cirrhosis where the meals are British and not American? Thank you for your help.

Me too, any help on this would be great
I am waiting for a nhs dietician big waiting list still cant find a recipe book though
I think we’ve spotted a gap in the market. Maybe we should find a willing dietician and collaborate to produce a book to raise funds for @BLT
Brilliant idea! There's a huge gap in knowledge and the dissemination of what has been researched is erratic -- and relevant information (often contradictory) only unearthed by the tireless efforts of individuals as shown in this forum. It's an exhausting journey and the input of qualified and "liver health conscious" dieticians would be so reassuring. My GP's dietician , although keen to help with my protein/carb ratio questions, submitted me to a Maths lesson, complete with calculator and. the outcome (meal advice) almost entirely predicated on Fortisip Compact Protein drinks. Sigh.
I just Googled and Amazon UK has a book for Cirrhosis £9.59 amazon.co.uk/Cirrhosis-Cook...
Hi, afraid I can't help with 'exact' recipes as I tend to play with ingredient amounts and flavours -- and as I used to be comfortable producing 'normal' meals for numbers ranging from 6 to 40, I go ott with quantities!Like you, I'm frustrated at how time consuming and draining preparing nutritious meals with restricted ingredients, yet ones that offer variety and appeal can be. I've found that my palate is erratic too, which makes shopping an expensive nightmare! What I imagine I'll enjoy while shopping, becomes totally unappetizing by meal time.
I'd be happy to send you some meal Ideas that I've come up with since diagnosis -- don't expect my quantities to be spot!
Bon appetit!
I just want to add that now I’m stable enough for the moment yet so fatigued I make myself batch cook things like veg curries, veg soup, veg lasagna, veg pie etc. all good to portion out and freeze. Gets me through big time. I always add a can or 2 of pulses rinsed of any salt and make a big pot of veg based sauce similar to ratatouille which I have with wholegrain pasta, steamed potatoes or rice. It’s been working good for me but I have to push hard to get it done but at least that is my food covered. I add 1 stock cube to my large batches but never add salt directly. I have lots of recipes I’ve just made up to accommodate the date. Stick to mozzarella for cheese. It hasn’t the lowest salt. Hope that helps.
Also add a spoon of seeds like flaxseed, chia, nuts to as many dishes as you can or even a spoon in your nutritional shake or drink if you’re on them.
( I’m not qualified in any of that to give advice but it’s what I do)
…sorry! Couple of typos there! I meant diet instead of date and as regards to the cheese I meant has not hadn’t 😊
try the inside out diet by Kathy Wong it does have some US measurements but it’s easy to convert and the recipes are excellent for liver health.
I follow the mediteranean diet but cut out cheese and sauces... lots of cookbooks availible
