Hospitalisation and hepatitis

Hi hope you are all well and enjoying the bank holiday , brief update on my overall health and some recommendations would be greatly appreciated . About a month ago I was admitted to hospital with acute pain in my lower right quadrant radiating through my back up to my right shoulder blade , and my eyes and skin turned very yellow in a short space of time , blood tests were completed and I was found to have an infection in my body , suspected gall stones , I was placed on an antibiotic drip for a few days and then oral antibiotics until the infection was killed off. I then was given a series of scans , no stones were found but the billiary tubes were found to be inflamed from my gall bladder and my pancreas and liver , my bilirubin was very high near 400 , and stayed at that level for about 10 days , my consultant was quite concerned and bloods were taken daily , however just over a week ago he told me that the number had decreased to 280 and was still falling , he mentioned about using steroids to reduce the inflammation on my organs but did not really want to go down that route as he said everything is coming back together nicely , had very pale stools , but now a normal colour and consistency has been achieved and looking very healthy , a high protein diet has been recommended and supplemented with Ensure juice drinks to keep Albumin levels high , as I didn't move much whilst in hospital and was confined to a isolation cubicle for a week due to catching Norovirus on the ward before discharge I am feeling very weak although eating decently can anybody recommend a source of carbohydrates to give slow release of energy throughout the day , I have also scoured the internet to try and find any useful tips on helping to overcome hepatitis and the only information I can find is that it takes time and nutrition , which I do fully understand , so if anyone who has been in a similar position can give me any advice whatsoever I would be most grateful , I know its early days , only been home 3 days , many thanks , sorry for the long winded post ,

Will.

Hi Will with Hepatitis you are doing the right things because as you have said I’m afraid it takes time and a good diet, so you’ve been through the mill it’s not nice and when I had it my skin smelled don’t know if you went through that. Anyway good luck and keep up with the good diet 👍.

Stay safe All

Hi Dave , im home now 5 days and still a bit off white , slightly jaundiced , however since being home ive regained my appetite , lost about a stone , but feeling a lot better , had a lot of tests still no varices or acites , but very weak , sleeping really well and generally in a good place , no limitation given on liquids , so I assume it would be beneficial to drink plenty of water , many thanks , Will.
