elevate ALT post transplant

Hi

I had my liver transplant 6 months ago and have felt fantastic ever since. No issues after transplant and blood tests at 5 months showed my liver function and kidney function were excellent.

Consultant just rung today with blood results at 6 months and my ALT levels are elevated. Put me back on steroids and appt booked Tues for bloods tests and scan and then suggested that if still elevated I have a liver biopsy.

Has anyone else experienced this and should I be worried?

Thanks

Hi, I'm 6 years post liver transplant, sorry I've never had that happen but I'm in a Facebook group called *liver transplant support uk*a group of thousands of liver transplant patients and I know this is common, hopefully you next blood tests will be normal but trust in your doctors and let them worry about the numbers. If you use Facebook please feel free to join our friendly and knowledgeable group,

Hilary

Dear Bantam2,

If you would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)

We also facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers) including a group for liver transplant.

If you [are in the UK and] would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here
