avocado - anyone else ?

Hi and happy summer solstice,

I’ve recently been trying to improve my diet and read that avocado has many good features, such as high fiber, good fat, vitamin c, b vitamins, folate, vitamin k, and something about it helps the body produce glutathione (an antioxidant which helps protect the liver.)

I have added it to my diet (nothing crazy-like half an avocado per day), and I have noted that my digestive system seems incredibly better than previously. It was fairly good before, but the addition of avocado seems to get along “swimmingly” with my system.

One can surmise that it is just due to the fiber, but I haven’t seen anything like this with any other fibrous food (and I love fresh fruits and veggies).

Has anyone else had experience with this or additional information? No matter what the exact attributable cause, I can just say I’m extremely pleased to have my system working as well as it did when I was in my early 20’s.

Thanks and have a great day!

That's interesting. I love avocado's. They taste great with Worcestershire sauce. Really gives them a kick. Does anyone else have any tips on super good foods for the liver too. Thanks for your post. Best wishes Golly

yes, I’m looking for any other ideas of foods that have help make a perceived improvement. 😀.

In addition to the vitamins, avocado is a prebiotic and good for gut flora/bacteria which affects a lot of people with liver disease. So I’ve read. 🙂

My gastro issues settled when I took 2 large dessertspoons of live yogurt or Kefir and 1 teaspoon of the best New Zealand Manuka honey before bedtime; my tum remains simply quiet! Read Megan Rossi's articles on Gut Health and best supplements to take.

A balsamic reduction (glaze) is a wonderful thing on vegetables, especial avocados. We eat avocados a lot and get the balsamic glaze from Trader Joe's. Chia pudding is delicious and great for gut biome health, IMO.

I’ll have to try that. Thank you so much ! I have been dicing it and putting it in my salad or eat it alongside an omelet for breakfast.
