Has your doctor given you the all clear to fly (especially long haul) bearing in mind varices?
Varices carry a huge risk for flying in that they can burst in flight. We've had folks on here in the past who were flying with unknow varices that did just that resulting in an emergency landing and hospital admission and because they had insufficient insurance they were held liable for the plane landing costs and the costs of fellow passengers who thereafter missed connections etc.
It will be very difficult and almost certainly hugely expensive to get any travel insurance for USA.
You NEED to discuss all these trips with your doctor as to how safe it is, what vaccinations you might need and precautions you'll need to take with regards to cirrhosis and risk of additional illness (Sri Lanka ??). You'll need fitness to fly verification with having a history of varices.
Try Staysure or Avanti. I have mine with Staysure & pay £32/month. This does not cover me for USA though. They quoted me £700 for one weeks cover for New York because of the ridiculous cost of medical treatment there. Good luck.
Hi Phil I had varices and cirosis my grandson is in the USA it cost me as much to get insurance as to get another holiday 💷💷, now I’m on the transplant list no insurance company will touch me and I done a lot of research. Good luck I hope you find a company that you can afford 👍.
I used gocompare today and got a year's European cover for myself and my wife for £120!Europe and Africa was £280, worldwide Inc USA was around £800 and to include cruising with air ambulance rescue was £1200.
Same as you cirrhosis and age wise but also diabetic, high BP and cholesterol.
I don’t know about insurance yet unfortunately but did you say you are a recovering alcoholic for 6 years or still drinking? If you are in recovery then well done. It’s not easy but so worth it.
Alcohol as we know is a big NO with cirrhosis.
Hope you find some answers to your insurance questions.
I'm same two years for me never had bleeding or banded or tied whatever they do just keep looking be honest it's annoying because lots of people don't know they have cirrhosis we do so getting treatment were more likely to be okay because we know think America be biggest problem
