Those tests normally relate to kidney function.
They could actually relate to either.Creatine is used to help estimate kidney function and its part of the calculation for something called glomular filtration rate, or more simply how much function your kidneys have, lol.
All are tested in both kidney and liver disease as there can be an interaction in both. For example sodium can be low in both kidney and liver disease. Indeed sodium levels form part of the UKELD calculation and is actually quite a key influence on the score. In my experience sodium level of 125 is quite low. So I can see why the report refers to acute disease. I wouldn't though be too certain as to of what, lol. Hopefully his doctor will be able to be a bit more forthcoming with an explanation.
Sorry if that confuses more than it helps. If he doesn't already have an appointment booked with his doctor reasonably soon, and if no one gets in touch about this result, it would probably be very sensible to get an appointment soon. With that level of sodium some review is needed. It may just be a simple case of changes to some meds, but either way it does need that review. Hopefully his doc already has this in hand.
Hi Kristian,
We have an appointment this afternoon with our gp.
Just not sure what questions to ask.
He was in hospital on Saturday on sodium IV then discharged back to our gp.
They did tell me his liver and kidneys are struggling and there is inflammation somewhere along with 3 fractures in his lumbar.
There is so much going wrong now so I am trying to find out what stage he is at.
A very worrying time.
Thank you
Ok, thats perfect. It does look like there is much to discuss. Just remember no question is a daft one. Ask about potential causes, ask about next steps, ask about both short term actions and longer term monitoring. But to be honest, if there is anything you are unsure, even the smallest thing, always just ask. Doctors can only give answers if they understand what it is you want to know.
Good luck 🤞
That's great advice.Very much appreciated.
I want to ask if he can expediate his hepatolgy appointment because it is currently 6 weeks away.
Dear Diamondbabe
In addition to the suggestions from members of the forum, for future appointments, here is a link to some information on our website about preparing for appointments, including questions to ask the doctor, which you may find helpful. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Thank you.I have asked about his kidneys. The gp said the blood results are border line.
I asked about his liver. She didn't comment. I suspect she doesn't know.
I asked about his sodium. She said it increased to 129 in A&E . I asked why and could it drop again and if it does what happens.
She said it is because of his alcohol intake and could drop again because he is still drinking. She will test again in 2 weeks if it has dropped he will be back in hospital.I
He had a hepotology appointment in 6 weeks
