Never heard of anyine having endoscopic ultrasound, had many endoscopy s looking for varicies and banding of them., Don't need ultrasound as they are looking directly at your oesophagus. Ask for sedation and you won't know anything about it. May feel a bit sore afterwards but paracetamol should help.Good luck

Hi Hilary

Endoscopic Ultrasound a fairly common test and has some unique advantages. The link below has more info.

Forum Member 'Horsemum101' had one of these procedures 6 months ago. Her post is at:- healthunlocked.com/britishl... maybe she'll be able to tell you more if you comment on that thread and see if she replies to help describe the procedure.

It sounds like they are obviously investigating your biliary tract for issue with bile flow, gall bladder etc. It's obviously also a procedure where they can clear obstructions - BLT were recently looking for folks who'd had one for biliary obstruction clearance to get in touch - their post details what that procedure entails so may give you an idea. healthunlocked.com/britishl...

Yes, I had one recently. It really isn't anything to worry about. I have had one where I opted for sedation via a cannula. You wont remember much about the procedure. The staff are very reassuring in the endo suite, and will make you comfortable during and after the procedure.

If you choose to have sedation, then you must have someone to collect you and take you home and look after you while the sedative where's off. So it makes for a long day.

I no longer have sedation. I prefer local anaesthetic. This is administered via a spray into the back of your mouth and throat. Its supposed to taste of banana. (not) It is very bitter. As you are then fully awake, you will experience some discomfort when the scope hits your gap reflex. The procedure is over very quickly. As you have not had sedations, you can go home on your own and drive.

Hope this helps
