Hi there I suffer terribly with itching and it seems to get worse in the evenings when I'm relaxing. Consultant prescribed orsodexocholic acid for 2 months and it really helped, but the chronic itching is back with a vengeance. I try mind over matter for as long as I can bear it as I find that scratching one area sets it off somewhere else! A cool damp face cloth wiped gently over the area helps me. Haven't tried any creams etc
Thank you so much for your reply. I know it drives me mad at night. I cannot keep still or sleep. Wishing you all the best.
Hi, If ursodeoxycholic acid is really helping your itching, maybe you should check with your doctor and go back to taking it? Usually treatment with ursodeoxycholic acid is longer as far as I know.
Hi Emma
Very odd and strange solution.
I have recently been using Vicks Vaporub, not even the branded stuff, a supermarket similar variety. It is super cheap
This stuff is amazing, I have used it for athletes foot, Slap on overnight and wear a sock
Recently also tried it on my face for a few spots and flaky type skin.
A while ago, suffered from a dose of Candida in the groin area. Also applied liberally and gave me as much relief as any expensive antifungal cream or at that time doctor suggested 4 days of antibiotics which tore my tummy to shreds and hydrocortisone cream as an applicator.
Bonus Vicks smells nice as well
Keep away from open sores or eyes.
As you know it contains menthol and/or Eucalyptus
I use it for anything that itches or takes on a fungal element, it worked for me.
What have you got to lose, a few quid.
try diprobase cream check it’s ok with the pharmacist. All the best
I see you really haven't been diagnosed with anything, go get an MRI, and some bloods, if you are still drinking wine, that could be the problem with your itching, you could have a fatty liver.
my son gets double based gel and acqueous cream on prescription . GP said to take one antihistamine tablet at night . Hope this helps best wishes Carol x
I would speak to either your GP or consultant about getting some tablets - gabapentin can sometimes help, or possibly an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) such as sertraline can be of assistance. Good luck!
Antihistamines tend not to work with puritus in liver disease.
I've tried quite a few different creams which didn't really help. I've recently begun using Dermacool menthol aqueous cream 5% and it works wonders. Worth asking your GP to add it to your prescription as it's quite pricey. Good luck!
