Those of you who have read my other questions are probably now thinking that I should let this go, (and i Will…) but I have so many symptoms of liver disease that it is difficult to let it go. I have also now got a swollen knee, out of nowhere. never had swollen knees before. I'm also extremely tired all the time and stomach ache high up on the right. Pins and nedled in my feet and legs at night.
I will take new samples tomorrow. pk inr, platelets, sodium, bilirubin etc but to what use? these can be normal despite illness.. I have spoken to my doctor but she wants to send me for a sehcat examination and not a fibroscan
if my symptoms (more than the ones I wrote) are due to liver disease, the tests should show it?
Ok, I have been where you are. As others have said it would be highly unlikely that all the imaging would miss chirrosis. Swelling in one knee is not a symptom of cirrhosis. Last year my anxiety was through the roof. Something was happening in my body and I had lots of symptoms of liver dysfunction. I was diagnosed with fatty live but I was convinced it was more. I couldn’t function I was so anxious.
What got me through was the thought “ what could I do anyway”. I changed my diet. Lost 15 kg, walk daily and generally eat really well. I no longer drink at all. The whole thing has been a positive in my life. I still aim to get bloods each year and ask them to check my liver.
This is literally how I feel atm. Diagnosed with fatty liver, still thinking it's something worse because of the wording (Doctor has explained it's just fatty liver), but also just found I have stage 1 hypertension and I feel very anxious and depressed as a whole because I suffer from anxiety in general, also because I am not having further tests, just another blood test in about 6 months, which naturally might cause anxiety anyway. But on the plus side, I found out that this is due to calculations using my bloods showing very low likelhood of fibrosis, so i am using this as a bit of a sign of hope for my prognosis. But as Kettl said, anxiety is a bit of a git, but don't be afraid to approach a friend or member of family if you have issues.
thanks for your reply. yes I think so too, what can I do if I worry. I'm not particularly overweight, but I've still started exercising more, I don't drink alcohol.on my ultrasound they couldn't see fat, which makes me worried that it's fibrosis already.
Ok so thinking it through if you don’t have alcohol induced liver disease then are you thinking you have Nash? fibrosis? As far as I understand the progression of liver disease is fatty liver, NASH, fibrosis, cirrhosis. If your ultrasound does not show even fat( the first stage) then you can’t be at the last stages. I’m not trying to be smart. I am just giving your mind more positive reasons to settle down.
Hi deep breath, if you don’t relax and listen to your doctor you will make yourself ill. I wouldn’t think that your knee has anything to do with your abdominal aches. Try to focus on what you can do what ever the diagnosis. Look after your liver, a good healthy balanced diet, stop alcohol and reduce your salt, try to increase your exercise and please talk to your doctor about your anxiety. Good luck
Your platelets won't be normal but other things such as alt/ast can be normal due to only increasing if you have inflammation going on at the time of your labs. (90% of people with cirrhosis have low platelets.
