Still worried : hi ive had 2 sets bloods... - British Liver Trust
Still worried
If you have cirrhosis caused by the antibiotics your liver wont go back to normal after stopping but stopping the antibiotics will at least give the non cirrhotic parts of your liver a chance to heal and your liver function may improve to the point where your liver is compensated. Antibiotics can cause liver damage & 6 months is a long time to be taking an antibiotic so you should have been monitored for signs of liver damage so that your liver damage didn't get to the point where it became cirrhotic. Wait and see what the FibroScan & biopsy findings are and look after yourself while you are waiting for tests to determine what's going on.
Thanku so much for reply I did think maybe I should have been monitored but sadly I wasn't.. at least I'm no longer on the antibiotics now though xx
Hi Lisa,
Can you maybe ring your liver nurse back to ask more questions? Its important that you get advice from your own healthcare professionals who have access to your medical history.
Good luck and keep us posted
Warm wishes

I'm sure they will not think you are a pain at all, if you have valid concerns like you have listed here, it will reassure you to speak to your team.
