How worried should I be?

My little grandson and granddaughter have both tested positive this afternoon for covid. I have been with them today. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis 2 years ago to this month. I was in hospital for 6 weeks and nearly died. I haven't drank alcohol since then. Covid is going around our area like wildfire at the moment and I just know I will be next. Thank you and any advice would be kindly appreciated.

Hi Sallydog11, my daughter had COVID few weeks ago but me and my husband didn't catch it... Hopefully you'll be lucky too!

Hard to say as it affects everyone differently. Hopefully you don’t get it at all but don’t let it keep you up at night worrying. I had it while on deaths door from my liver and didn’t know until a test told me so. I trust you are all vaccinated up?

If there is a silver lining it’s that the current strain is not as severe last time I braved looking at the news.

Edited to add please seek help if you notice symptoms ASAP. The above could come across as if I was belittling how serious it could be which is not my intention.

Hiya, I had covid back in September, I’m 21 with cirrhosis, portal hypertension and an enlarged spleen. I was classed as extremely clinically vulnerable but to be honest with you I didn’t have any side effects at all apart from loss of smell and taste, I’ve genuinely had colds worse so I wouldn’t worry unless you actually do find your symptoms to be worse. I know of people a lot healthier than me who had worse symptoms to definitely a case by case basis.

I was the same Sally. I contracted COVID in hospital in January. They new I had Cirrhosis but wasn't diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis stage 4 then.I hadn't had a vaccine and I was taken to a COVID ward where every other patient on the bay was wearing ventilators😲 (COVID was rife at that time). After 7 days of feeling fine apart from the food tasting horrible (couldn't tell) I was transferred to a isolation booth to protect me from everything else.🤔

I was gutted, fuming and relieved at the same time.😥

It all depends on the individual, I also think a strong and positive attitude works wonders as well.😇
