Hi folks. I had a lap chole 18 months ago, after waiting 2 years. I had one large stones and several much smaller ones. All was well for a few months then this time last year I started to feel pain on right side in gallbladder region. I have had US which was NAD, CT, also NAD. Several lft's since show raised GGT and one other but I can't remember which. GP has referred me back to Gastro but very long waiting list. She is now suggesting biopsies might be next step. The discomfort is now constant and is coupled with bouts of diarrhoea which can sometimes appear to be pure bright yellow bile (sorry...tmi). I'm so drained all the time and sick of feeling this pain. Last night I almost took myself to A&E. Anyone else had similar problems? TIA x

Hi,
We are sorry to read that you are in so much discomfort. We would suggest you speak with your GP today to get some guidance and if the pain worsens then to call NHS111 or attend A&E if necessary.
Take care.
I spoke with my GP yesterday to review repeat LFT's. The latest results are actually a little better, though still raised and she said ' whatever you are doing differently has helped'. I have done nothing differently and told her about the episode I had on Sunday. She is baffled. So now I have to wait possibly months for my referral back to the gastro team, or find the money for a private consultation. I am at my wits end and so miserable.
I contacted the surgeon who did my op. He said there was a possibility stones were left behind in the bile duct and is going to arrange for an MRCP. I am so relieved there is a possibility of getting to the bottom of this. Almost 4 years since original diagnosis of gallstones.
So still undergoing tests. Lft's still raised. MRCP showed mildly dilated CBD. Colonoscopy showed nothing obvious but 10 biopsies taken (a/w results). CT abdomen shows a 20mm lesion on liver which my surgeon says is 'likely benign', but radiologist suggests MRI. Weight loss of 10lbs in last 4 weeks, loose stools for last 2. Pain intermittent. This seems to be taking forever to get an answer. Anybody else with similar symptoms? 🙏🏻
I had bile acid malabsorption after gallbladder op, similar symptoms as yours, I take Colestyramine which has sorted it. My GGT is still raised and I now have liver atrophy, splenic aneurysm and splenic lesion, all since gallbladder op as nothing on previous scans and MRIs.
