So I had my laparoscopic pyeloplasty and so far so good. The urology consultant that performed it also filmed my liver so that the hepatology consultants could have a look at it almost like seeing it in real life. During this operation the urologist confirmed that there is no ascites but confirmed cirrhosis.

I had a fibroscan on the 20th of August yet I am still waiting to hear from hepatology. I find the waiting very frustrating.

Previously I had to ask pretty pretty please to have my blood tests explained. After about 2 weeks the consultant said the following:

I do have cirrhosis but no ascites and no oedema. The thinking is that the episode of sepsis had tipped things over the edge. I had 2 more sepsis episodes since then and I can see from the blood tests that each and every time it had a negative impact on my liver.

Due to the sepsis the urologist has said that when the stent between my kidney and bladder gets removed on the 21st of September I will be put on a course of antibiotics to prevent another sepsis episode.

In 2010, 2013 and 2015 ultrasounds showed no cirrhosis as did the blood tests and a blood test in 2019 was also clear.

At this stage I am thinking that sepsis and my cirrhosis are linked, doesn't happen often but it can according to some research. I am guessing that liver wise I am not too bad, but would like to know for sure.

Hope you all are coping well.

Hi Woodi,

Hopefully your hepatology team can clarify the cause of cirrhosis and stage with you.
